Synopsis
An anthology of original essays from our most intriguing young writers, Bookmark Now boldly addresses the significance of the production of literature in the twenty-first century. Or simply, "How do we talk about writing and reading in an age where they both seem almost quaint?"The book features authors in their twenties and thirties -- those raised when TV, video games, and then the Internet supplanted books as dominant cultural mediums -- and their intent is to examine: (1) how this generation came to writing as a calling, (2) what they see as literature's relevance when media consumption and competition have reached unprecedented levels, and (3) how writing and reading fit in with the rest of our rapid, multitasking world. The result will offer a voyeuristic peek into the private, creative lives of today's writers and shed light on what their work means at a time when the book business is changing, yet -- almost paradoxically -- a time when storytelling as a means of both self-realization and community building (be it via e-mail, weblogs, or "This American Life") seems more relevant than ever before. Edited by Kevin Smokler, a Bay Area entrepreneur who has devoted himself to fostering literary culture and cultivating fresh talent, Bookmark Now is a collection that both captures the state of the art and provides inspiration to aspiring writers at all levels., An anthology of original essays from our most intriguing young writers, Bookmark Now boldly addresses the significance of the production of literature in the twenty-first century. - s***s (134)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThis is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is in better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you!Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventures, Vol. 4: One Vision: Used (#285054122196)
- p***p (47)- Feedback left by buyer.Past yearVerified purchaseGreat seller! Item is what I ordered; good communication; shipped promptly; good value. NOTE TO SELLER: packaging was NOT appropriate for item; it was a flimsy, plastic envelope, with no stiff material to prevent creases. The book came with two deep creases that involved the *entire* item: one is a 1" triangle lower left side (bound edge); the other is a 7" triangle on upper right side (open edge).Beautiful Music for Two String Instruments, Bk 3: 2 Violins by Samuel Applebaum (#403989405345)
- g***j (1262)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseItem as described. Shipped quick. Packed well. They accidentally gave me the wrong tracking number. I contacted them twice with my concerns that package third party shipper never was received at USPS as of 5 days after it said they shipped. They helped me through but neglected to see they had issued me an incorrect tracking number. Otherwise, my transaction was excellent. I will give them a 5star rating since they quickly tried to help me with my concerns. Anyone can make a mistake.
