The 2-way Polk Audio db401 Coaxial Car Speaker system is a marine-certified speaker system best suited for cars and boats. The electro-dynamic cone-shaped car woofer is filled with polymer composite, producing distortion-free audio. The 0.75 inch dome-shaped car tweeter contains liquid-cooled silk-polymer composite filling and a neodymium magnet that reproduce well-defined high frequencies. The car woofer-tweeter system supports a frequency range of 85 Hz - 22 kHz. Great upgrade for your GL1500 Goldwing
The stock OEM speakers are paper coned, cheaply made, weak speakers. The Polk Audio replacements are far superior in that they are marine rated and are not affected by water. This is especially important on a motorcycle that eventually will be caught in the rain. The OEM speakers are doomed to fail especially the ones in the rear, which for reasons unknown are designed to be mounted facing straight up which effectively turns them into funnels for water to collect in. Fortunately, the Polk speakers are polypropylene with foam ribbed surrounds for marine application, which suits them perfectly with occasional water exposure from rain on the road. They seem to be clearer than the originals, and I detect no distortion in them. They do however require a higher volume setting than the OEM to make the same sound level. This may be because of a difference in impedance (resistance) between the two. It should also be mentioned that all speakers of this size (regardless of manufacturer or brand) are not capable of producing any bass frequencies at all. That is probably why all the newer bikes with sound systems have upgraded to much larger speakers and even made room for amplified subwoofers. Considering the miniature size of the electrical system on most motorcycles, this is probably not a good idea (especially an older one). The Polk Audio speakers are excellent upgrade replacement speakers that are a drop in fit providing you with many more years of sound from your existing system.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

4 inch speakers
They are good speakers. I was just hoping I would be able to hear them in my Harley and I can't. Do you have anything else that would b louder in the 4 inch size? Good sound at a lower price
I put these in my 2002 Nissan frontier crew cab rear doors. I bought these because of reviews of Polk speakers and the higher sensitivity ratings when compared to many other brands of the same size.
