    ENTERTAINING MYSTERY

    I'd not heard of this series and bought it on a whim. I wasn't disappointed in the Vera discs. Brenda Blethyn who plays detective Vera Stanhope is a marvelous actress and she exudes intelligence, wit, and marvelous facial expressions and will keep you very entertained. The accents are heavy so listen closely and pay attention.

    WHY YOU SHOULD NOT BUY THIS SERIES

    Now I know why I have not seen this series on PBY. The actors are very often speaking gibberish or at least it sounds like that. Watching, you find your self losing the direction of the show because you cant understand much of what is being said. So if you know all the accents of The UK and like people who often mumble, this is for you. Those of us who enjoy the British imports where the actors speak English and speak up, will not want to try....

    Great entertaining series!

    My husband and I love this series. It’s filled with interesting characters and compelling stories. Brenda Blethyn is wonderful as the main character Vera. David Leon is excellent as her assistant. I love seeing their relationship grow over the season. I would recommend this series to anyone who loves mystery series - this one is in my top 5 favorites.
