Upgrade the power and performance of your laptop with the Hewlett-Packard 486248-001 motherboard, designed for HP laptops that support an ATX form factor. Compatible with the entire HP Compaq 6530b and 6730b series of laptops, it supports Intel chipsets and comes with two memory cards for DDR2 memory. A SATA connection provides connectivity for the hard drive, and the integrated GMA 4500MHD graphics chipset handle the graphics on this component. Several connections allow you to connect external media and storage devices. These include two USB 2.0 ports, one VGA port, an RJ-45 LAN interface, and a FireWire port. It is a suitable solution for those who are looking to upgrade their laptop without replacing it altogether.A motherboard must house the processor and enable it to quickly and accurately communicate with other computer components. The HP 486248 is engineered around the Intel Socket T, which works with a variety of Intel Core processors, including the Duo series, which is specifically engineered for notebook computers. Most of these processors utilize a two-megabyte cache, which reduces calls to system RAM and decreases latency. This motherboard can support up to two DDR2 SDRAM cards for a grand total of eight gigabytes of RAM. For network connectivity, the HP 486248 has a built-in IEEE 802.11b/g/a/n network adapter, which gives you high-speed Internet access anywhere a Wi-Fi network is present. If you do not have a wireless router or your connection is critical, this notebook motherboard also allows you plug directly into a fast Ethernet connection. This motherboard also has a modem with G3 fax compatibility. HP Compaq 6730b notebooks come with a wide variety of storage options, all of which are supported by this motherboard. In addition to supporting high-capacity hard drives via SATA/RAID connectivity, the motherboard allows you to attach a DVD-RW drive. A built-in card reader makes it easy for you to access flash data storage. This card reader can access MMCPlus, MemoryStick/Pro, SD/SDHC cards, MultiMedia cards and XD-Picture cards. This allows you to use it with just about any kind of Flash data you have. To power all of these parts, the motherboard connects directly to a six-cell lithium-ion battery. Even with all of these components, you can be assured of long-lasting battery life. To expand the functionality of your Compaq 6730b notebook, a diverse I/O interface is essential. A FireWire port enables you to quickly connect your notebook to other computers. Since many devices use a serial port to communicate, this motherboard is equipped with one. VGA and TV out ports allow you to easily connect your computer to other displays, which is great for viewing videos on TV or enhancing the size and resolution of your display. An ExpressCard/54 gives you the opportunity to expand the functionality by adding another component to your device. Headphone out and microphone in jacks make this a great motherboard to use for Skype and other VOIP software. All of this hardware and the BIOS firmware is fully compatible with the Windows operating system.
