This is vinyl, pleather... whatever you want to call it and there's no doubt of that - it doesn't look like real leather, which I did not expect nor even want. It looks perfect in my office and will offer additional storage space. I'm not fond of the strap/handle, so I just tuck it inside the lid. It meets my expectations completely. I added small pillows for a softer look.
