Razor style blade, lock back knife
I like the little folder since it is very different than most folders with it's razor style blade. Some call it a coping style blade. It is useful to cut all sorts of things. It is made from 440 SS which is not to be confused with 440 C SS. The difference is in the hardening of the steel. It is softer but easy to sharpen. It is not going to hold it's edge like 440 C will. Since I bought it for next to nothing my expectations are not at a level of say a CASE knife but the CASE would cost me 5 to 7 times more, if CASE made this style? So to finish up, the Rough Rider knives are good especially for the money and the craftsmanship is not bad. The Chinese have come a long way in their craftsmanship as did the Japanese in the 1960's. First of all don't be fooled by the cheap price. Case and GEC and other companies should be very afraid of these knives IMO! Truth be told when I read 'They are not the quality of Case' I kinda chuckle to myself because you might be unaware of just how unlike Case they are and how unlike other older American companies knives were like Queen and others. Lets start with the brass liners. These China made knives are thicker than any of the American products. Nearly twice as thick as current Case knives for liner thickness! Don't believe it? Look! Note also the pins! All the pins across the board are bigger in diameter than the American equal and this transfers to screws also. So across the board part for part the knife build is thicker on this RR knife. Lets talk about the steel. 440A is ... First of all don't be fooled by the cheap price. It is liked by knife companies and not that long ago Kershaw and other companies including Buck used it in their knives. Typically it can be anywhere from 55 Rockwell to 58 in hardness and it is extremely corrosion resistant. In short there is nothing at all the matter with this steel. In fact I rate it higher than the current steel being used by some of the companies that used to use it and that includes Kershaw and their 14C28 and 13C27 and 12c27steels from Sandvik. I get more cuts in 3/8" diameter hemp rope out of a equal sharpened 440 A blade over any of those Sandvik steels. Try it for yourself sharpening to equal knives otherwise the same way using an Edge Pro. These are not just good knives they are exceptional. I've bought three in the last few weeks just randomly checking because I'm an insider in the knife industry and I like to see what is what> and my take is that CASE and all the remaining American companies better take note. I bought this knife and it's real bone, with pins and liner stock beefier than a Case or GEC and to get this same level of quality feel and fit and finish I had to spend $250 for one from GEC! Be very afraid! RR is just the start! These are nice! Mine, all purchased are flush open, closed, and on each blade, they are spit shined for finish and come in nice little display boxes or gift boxes! Honestly I have been very disappointed in some of my Case purchases even on the lesser expensive models. I just spent sixty five for an Amber bone Case Copperlock knife and the blade is off center when closed! None of these sub 20 buck knives from RR are like that! What is that? Its taking things for granted and it needs to stop or you will be taking a back seat to these new highly finished highly collectible knives! They're that good! Stainless or not, China or not, they walk the walk! Believe it!

For the prices these knives sale for, you can't beat them! The lock on this knife is very tight and the quality may not be a Case, but at 1/5 the cost, this is a great little knife.
