    Great upgrade for a 4 year old pentium laptop!

    I upgraded my wife's 4 year old Sony VAIO laptop from a Pentium B960 this i5. Her computer is much more responsive now, her programs run smoother, and she can edit videos from our GoPro with no stuttering or freezing. This wasn't possible on the tired old pentium. Temps are much lower now, the Pentium would throttle and occasionally got so hot it would shut down the computer. Now CPU temps during a stability test only hit 70c. Great value for her upgrade, and only took 15 minutes to install. I also upgraded her memory from 4 GB of DDR 1066 to 8 GB of DDR 1333. With a tube of thermal compound, the total upgrade cost was $65. A fresh install of windows 10 and it's like she has a brand-new computer. Not bad for a $399 laptop from 2013.

    Great deal upgrade

    i5-2540M is my choice for upgrade my Sony Vaio VPC-EH 1E1E/W laptop from B940 CPU. It was easy to install the new CPU. It’s a significant improvement and performing quite fast. Running stable since day one of the upgrade and I didnt have a sigle troupble with it. No overheating or blue screens. It was more or a like to like change for a CPU with similar requirements. Recommend it to those who want to give a chance to their hardware.

    old laptop upgrade.

    had an old laptop that was running a pentium 940b and it was struggling. I did some research and found this cpu has 2 more threads higher ipc and clocks over 3ghz. All while staying at the same 35 watt TDP as the 940b. for me it was a 60% boost in performance and runs much cooler and quieter. very happy with my purchase. can usually count on used intel products.     Great cpu for laptops

    I purchased this cpu to boost the stock working speed of my Dell E5520 laptop and it didnt dissapoint, and with the turbo boost to 3.3ghz, that makes it even better. Easiest cpu to install because the entire backside of the laptop comes off giving you practically access to everything, which makes loving this laptop even more of a pleasure to work with.

    Went from Pentium B940 to i5 2540!
