  • One of the best handhelds in the history of handhelds.

This is my review of the Sony PlayStation Vita 2000 (Slim) model. I have never owned a Vita before but I recently became interested in getting one. I was a bit hesitant at first due to the little support it does get and the fact that I'm about 5 years late to the system. I looked into the games that it had though and decided to take the shot. I'm definitely glad I did. It's like the PSP, but 100x better. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's amazing how the Vita can play near PS3 quality games on the go and all systems before. Not only are there some great PS3 ports, but also many good PS2, PS1, and PSP titles as well. Another bonus is the fact that you can play PS4 titles (if you already own a PS4) on the device as well! That's a ton of games. The hardware is beautiful and the speakers are really superb as well. I was able to watch a full movie on the system without the need of headphones, which was surprising to me. The screen quality is high and very colorful, although I've heard the original model's OLED screen looks even more bright and colorful. In the other hand though, you're getting much better battery life as well (I've gotten around 6-8 hours with the screen at full brightness, depending on the type of game/content being used), so I think it's a pretty good trade off. It's a shame that Sony doesn't support the console more, but don't let that scare you away. There are many great games that definitely make the console worth getting in my opinion. The PS3 port of Mortal Kombat alone makes it worth it for me. It plays exactly like it did on the home console and it's on the go! If you're thinking about getting one, you should. There are plenty of great games for everyone, no matter what genre you like. From PS1 classics to the Vita games themselves. A great handheld offering a massive amount of high quality content I believe is worth $200. Thanks for taking the time to read my review and take care. Hope I helped. 👍

  • A Handheld Worth Far More Than Its (Light)Weight

The Vita is likely the greatest true handheld ever designed (the Switch, while lauded for its flexibility, is significantly more cumbersome and less suited to the on-the-go play-style associated with handheld gaming). The 2000 model improves on the original model through its reduced weight, improved button layout, and USB charger (as opposed to the proprietary charger cable for the original model). Some detractors suggest that change from the OLED screen of the 1000 model indicates a significant reduction in image quality, but I've not noticed it much. The system is great for on-the-go gaming and has an expansive library for a particular kind of gamer (one who enjoys JRPGs and/or indie games, likely).

  • Better Late Than Never

I waited way too long to purchase a PS Vita. It only bothers me that physical games are hard to find but as long as you find a memory card you can just find most of them on the online store. Graphics still hold up after all these years, its selection of games is vast (with a certain JRPG taste), PSP classics are a nice touch, definitely beats watching Netflix on the go. I highly recommend to PlayStation fans and fans of quality portable gaming.

  • Finally got a vita

I have been waiting a while before buying the psvita. I finally broke down once I heard they were being phased out in the states. It is an excellent hand held system. It has excellent battery life and a higher resolution screen than the Nintendo 3ds (or at least the one I currently own). If you can read Japanese they are still releasing games for it over there and they have a much larger library of games. Definitely worth the buy.

  • Great Hardware that is crippled by Sony softlocks. Can only truly sing after being rooted/jailbroken.

One true PS4 Hackers Gitao aka BTFommy This is probably the most famous hack in history. It works on most firmware versions from 2.30 to 3.18. Many reviewers say that this hack is overpowered (i.e. can destroy consoles) and recommend it to absolutely no one.

  • Awesome little portable

Let's not pretend this system is old as heck. I only bought it to play PS4 games while in bed and for trips. I love the color. Overall I'm happy with my purchase.

  • Sleek Design and Color

I brought this system in order to replace my old vita 1000 that broke and with it's cool and sleek design I quickly fell in love with it! It's red color was exactly what I hoped for in design and looks really cool when compared to standard black and white systems. Very clear picture quality and controls feel nice too, would recommend 10/10!

  • PS vita is a must have for traveling.

Great console, even these days when it could be considered an outdated gaming console it holds pretty well by itself. Great battery for long trips and a lot of exclusive gems.

  • Used in Mint Condition

This PS Vita came in MINT condition. No scratches anywhere to be found, and plays perfectly with no stuck drift. It also came with an already hackable firmware. Couldn't be happier.

  • Satisfied

Everything is fine. Little scratches on the back, but that's alright. Silver colour looks so great, it reminds me ps1 fat version, which I love :)
