I had previously bought Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? and liked it so I decided to get Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good! to see how they were starting out. Not as good as Peace Sells, most of the album was good. Last Rites/Loved to Deth: Nice Piano intro, Loved to deth was a very fast-paced thrash song that keeps to the thrash feel. Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!: Another fast-paced thrash song. Not bad at all. Skull Beneath the Skin: Not as fast-paced, but still very enjoyable. Rattlehead: Another fast song, but a little bit out of control. Chosen Ones: See Skull Beneath the Skin Looking Down the Cross: See Above Mechanix: Taken from a recording with Metallica which was titled "The Four Horsemen" on Kill 'em All. Mechanix, in my opinion, is just too out of control, I didn't really hear much of a song there. Don't get mad, it's just my opinion. These Boots: Why did Dave include the song if 90% of the lyrics are going to be censored out anyway? It would've been better to just not include the song. Demo Versions: I can see why they were the demos. They were too out of control and sloppy to be in an album the way that they were. Even though this album has its flaws, it is a good debut album. Not as good as Kill 'em All in my opinion, but I will listen to it again.Read full review
This CD was a long time coming. The first album from Megadeth is one of their best, but the production on the original just didn't do the music justice. Now it is AAAALLLLLLL better. They did a masterful job of remastering each track so they take on a whole new personality. The only down side to this is the cover of "These Boots". There were a bunch of legal issues regarding Mega-Dave's version of this one so the result is a lot of censored lyrics. It's a bit hard to listen to, but a tad funny as well. The rest of the album more than makes up for that one song - well worth putting in your collection!!
I bought this CD because I realized that I didn't own it. Duh! Since my ex took all of my Megadeth 10 years ago, I've had to rebuild that collection. When I saw this reissue, I had to hear "These Boots". I saw that it was listed in the song line up. I had never been fortunate enough to hear his joke version of this song. In this CD, Dave Mustaine comments on the entire making of the original recording with an intro about how it came to be including some of the origins of Megadeth and the enraging feud with Metallica. David Ellifson also remarks on the recording as well. Included is Scott Ian's(Anthrax) take on things, and how he was involved. After each song, Dave and Marty give a history or take on each track. The commentaries are very enlightening concerning "These Boots." It was hilarious. I got to hear the music for the song and most of the words. Apparently, although it was allowed to be released, Dave was not allowed to include all of the changes that he had made to the original writing of the song. He can't even write the words to it, like he can with the other tracks. Serious profanity to the track had to be censored, but after you read the remarks that he left in place of where the lyrics should have been, you can pretty much figure out what he is saying. With this CD, you get to see the original cover art for the CD. Their mascot Vic Rattlehead was started like this, but the recording studio ruined the original release by not publishing the submitted cover art. Here it is restored as it should have been. Dave can tell you more about that. The CD was remade with all of the changes to get up to the standards that it was supposed to have had years ago when it was released. It's a necessary buy to keep your collection complete. You finally get to hear "These Boots" after years of it being silenced.Read full review
this review is for the original issue 8track album with boots. this is an essential album for headbangers!! its raw high energy metal with dynamics and musicianship. some songs are straight forward metal and some use different song structures with quite passages that lead to kick ass metal riffage!! daves singing on the album goes from a croon to his well known snarl. i swear it sounds like the band is barely holding on on some of these songs!! and then there's boots. later issues omit this song-dont waste your money on them!! pay a little more and get the original issue album with boots-its worth it!! the band had to drop the song because they couldnt afford to pay for the rights. i guarantee you will not be dissapointed with this classic!!
THIS IS A REMASTERED COPY OF MEGADETH'S 1ST ALBUM > KILLING IS MY BUSINESS < PRODUCED BY LOUD MUSIC, AS I ENJOYED THE CD I WAS SUPRIZED TO FIND > THESE BOOTS < WAS BLEEPED ALL OVER THE PLACE,THE FUNNY THING IS THERE WAS LIKE 2 DIRTY WORDS IN THE WHOLE SONG, MY WORD! MY POOR LITTLE VIRGIN EARS!! ,DONT GET ME WRONG I BLEED METAL,AND MEGADETH IS THE BEST BUT IF YOUR BUYING THIS ONE FOR THE COVER TRACK > THESE BOOTS < I'D KEEP ON LOOKING FOR THE ORGL COPY,BUT THE DEMO'S MAKE UP FOR IT A LITTLE... LATER
I love this record...the only thing I'm wondering is why is "These Boots" blanked out on half the words

I was the owner of this title on vinyl and finally had to have it on CD/mp3 for my ipod. This album is speed metal thrash all the way. Mustaine's guitar chops are very good, probably under-rated by the main stream media. The production value lacks a little but it's made up for by the song writing, emotion and energy. I would see it's must have for anyone's metal and/or thrash library.
Love this album, only problem was a crack on case. Cd played perfectly
