About this product

Product Information

Based on the film franchise that made Sylvestor Stallone a household name, Rocky is a button-masher in which players take on the role of the Italian Stallion and duke it out with Apollo, Clubber Lang and Drago, the latter of whom throws powerful punches at all times (other characters throw powerful punches with every fourth punch). Prior to a one-player match, Rocky must go through training, which involves punching a sandbag, training on a punching ball, or punching training mitts. Good training results in a faster, stronger fighter. Movement is limited to left and right, and there are just three types of punches (straight-on, hook, uppercut), but the characters are detailed, sound effects are realistic, and the boxing action is fun (if brief).

    Rocky, good graphics, bad control no Rocky Music :(

    I was Excited when I was a kid to get a chance to play this one. All my friends had Punch Out for the NES. I loved that game and I was hoping that Sega would be able to do battle against this classic. To bad for sega, it is not even close. The Graphics are outstanding for an 8 bit home console, but one thing made me very angry, the controls. I'm boxing against Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago and Rocky can only move forward, backward and down. It seems that he inches back and forth if you are not touching the D-pad. The game, when you play as a real boxer, is impossible to beat. If you contunue to hold down forward and hit punch button repeatly, the game is easy. Get a Genesis turbo controller and mall thru everyone. There are three bonus stage, Heavybag, speed bag and ...
