    So easy a 11yr old can do it

    The most difficult thing involved with the kit is applying the decals. Everything else it straight forward and well explained on the app. The down side is that different activities require disassembly which is a little hair raising to watch. Hours of fun to work on together or solo.

    Glad i didn't pay full price!!!!

    Seen at store,was very excited to build with my son, a "snap together" build which 1:DOES require a phone to operate in all functions (no "stand alone" mode??!) 2: does NOT do all functions in a single "configuration" (must re-purpose servo/motor/sensor to do other function(s)) i.e. remove steering servo to use grab arm, remove drive motor to use as head turning motor.....? 3: app is very time consuming to complete build "missions" to make single function action and to get back to the droid control interface. 4: lack of integration upgrades and stand alone play . Has huge potential but at $20+ per module (most seem to be in the $40 range) and not knowing how many you can link together without some other module being needed can get very pricey . My son and I were disappointed at the ...

    Good First Build for Kids

    Certainly a well-developed kit. Good clear instructions (app), beautiful plastic molding, crystal clear parts. Bits stick together magnetically with a pretty good feel. I think most tech-minded kids will enjoy it. My only concern is long-term appeal. Once it's together and you do the missions, it's not so fresh any more and may gather dust with other tech toys. They need to make MANY dedicated R2D2 expansion kits with more missions to keep things interesting. This should be a starter kit, capable of being built up to do MUCH more.

    Great beginning robotics

    My 11 year old son and his two friends had fun with this for hours. They loved the authentic sounds, the drawing option, and the proximity sensor. Works great with an iPad. Great for beginning robotics but if you want something more advanced with programming, try Lego Mindstorms or Makeblock.
