You’ll also appreciate the jam-proof drop-in bobbin. The top-loading full rotary hook bobbin simply won’t thread incorrectly. Needle insertion is a simple process, and you can also switch out the presser foot with the quick foot conversion. Janome Jem Gold sewing machines feature a wealth of computerized stitches to help you sew a variety of projects. Choose from nine different stitches, including two stretch stitches and one buttonhole stitch. A four-step buttonhole feature with a buttonhole foot helps you make buttonholes like a pro. Setting the stitches is simple with this sewing machine thanks to the stitch selection dial. The maximum stitch length is 4 mm, and the maximum stitch width is 5 mm. The four-piece feed dog on these sewing machines holds fabric securely while also allowing you to lower it for sewing. The presser foot of the Jem Gold raises extra high to accommodate thick fabrics such as canvas and denim as well as more than two layers of fabric. When sewing demands stitching in tight spots, the free arm gives you the access you need. With its user-friendly design, the Janome brand sewing machine is ready to sew right out of the box. Winding bobbins and threading the machine is intuitive, enabling you to choose threads that match your fabric. Changing needles and bobbins is also simple on these machines, ensuring that your needle and thread match your project in both color and weight. The Janome Jem Gold sewing machine includes a wide array of standard accessories. You receive a zig-zag foot, sliding buttonhold foot, standard buttonhole foot, overedge foot, specialized bobbin, and full set of needles.     A True Gem

    This little sewing machine is appropriately named--a true gem. It lives up to the Janome name as a tough and reliable machine that offers basic features for most common sewing needs. It does not have a lot of fancy stitches but enough for the average sewing person. I have been using it for only a few days now, but have put it through enough paces to know that I will continue to enjoy using it, especially because of its small footprint and light weight. I have been repurposing a heavy freezer bag as a carrying case for this machine, and it sews through the layers with a great deal of ease. I have a full-size Janome that I use for really tough jobs, like jeans and drapes, but this will be my go-to machine for everyday use.     This is the machine I needed to take to retreat and classes. It weighs half of what my other machine weighs - YAY! It’s lightweight but feels sturdy. Tried out all of the machines features tonight and everything performs great. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but I will get used to it. I need a reliable machine to take with me. It sews smoothly and without any glitches. And you can put th pedal to the metals. I’m overly impressed with quality and performance.

    Janome Gold 660

    Exactly as described, and exactly what I wanted. It works very well, replacing another old Janome that was almost worn out. I do a lot of sewing on heavy fabrics, and despite it's light weight, this machine does a fantastic job.
