  • Fantastic for the price

I usually tend towards more treble-forward headphones (Etymotic ER-4B, Grado SR80e, etc), but I got the Porta Pros as a backup and to use while playing bass. They have some of the most natural, feel-good low end I've heard, especially at this price, at the expense of everything <3k or so being somewhat muffled and frankly boring. The superb level of comfort really redeems them as a day-to-day headphone for skype or video-watching use. Get them: - As a backup to more expensive headphones, to have another type of sound - As a budget-friendly entry into buying headphones for sound and not status - For day-long use with VOIP with comfort (they are extremely light) - To give to kids or non-audiophiles as a respectable way of listening - For travel, although the semi-open design might annoy fellow travelers (IEMs are better but much more expensive) - To have spares for when friends come and everyone needs their own audio feed - Possibly for playing bass or synths with, because of that sweet low-end

  • quality, value, and style

great sound and simple, compact construction. i've kept a pair of these headphones on deck for the better part of the last decade and i'll probably keep getting them for as long as they stay in production. i took one star away because inevitably one of the headphones will go, or the cord will fray, but that's to be expected with all headphones, and the koss lifetime warranty (basically you send in the broken pair with a note explaining what's wrong and a $7 check, and they'll send you a new or repaired pair) is clutch. highly recommended.

  • "Blast from the Past"

After Breaking my beats solo wireless headphones I was in need for a cheap replacement. Fortunately for my retro-obsessed self Koss Porta Pros caught my attention. Here I will describe the wearing comfort as well as the sound of the Koss Porta Pros. Regarding my wearing experience: There are only two major gripes I have with the headphones. Firstly the headband on my Porta Pros always reverts back to the smallest possible size (which leads me to calibrate them every time I put them on). Secondly the area where the left cable cord and the driver meet clicks every time force moves the cord. Other than that the headphones stay on even with the most intense of headbanging. The comfort zone is also effective at reliving pressure if the drivers press too firmly on ones ears. The headphones are easily more comfortable than both over-ear and in-ear devices, especially for long listening sessions. Concerning the sound: The best way to describe the sound of the Porta Pros is "Pseudo-Vinyl" as the headphones add a low-fi warmth to your sound. Now I am not a seasoned audiophile but I'll try my best to describe the aural characteristics: The bass is tight and sounds very pleasant with kick bass and synth bass. The middle range sounds somewhat muffled when compared to the clarity of Bose headphones. The same can be said with the treble range. For all intents and purposes the Porta Pros are best used for giving an 80s-esque semi-modern flavor to sound. Personally I prefer more clarity but I can work with what the headphones have to offer since the sound is kinda cool. Overall the build quality really influences the sound and wearing experience of the headphones. And people aren't going to dig the eighties look like I do. But despite all of this, the sonic characteristics of the Koss Porta Pros can go toe to toe with the likes of significantly more expensive headphones on the market. Ultimately the Koss Porta Pros posses a lot of bang for your buck.

  • Koss PortaPro Review

Best less than $75 headphones I've ever owned. Much more comfortable than most earbuds. The volume controls have tiny little buttons, but work fine. The mic seems to pic up fine. When adjusting the size while on your head, they do grab hair. Improvement suggestions include improving the band over the head so its more comfortable and doesn't grab hair, and make them wireless.

  • Best buy in headphones

The Koss porta pro headphones have enjoyed something of a cult following by serious audiophiles for many years now. Bottom line- if you're looking for the BEST portable headphones ever, for listening on the go, or even as an inexpensive pair for home use, stop what your doing and GO BUY THESE. Reference quality sound, zero listening fatigue, NOTHING you will ever plug into your micro music device or phone can compete with these. For those seasoned audiophiles reading this, think "Baby STAX" and you will have an idea how these sound, Electrostatic transparency and speed with perfect bass all the way down to around 8 HZ....They are tunable also with several free or inexpensive modifications you can do to tailor the response to your liking (look up "KRAMER MOD") The Koss porta pro headphones are the equivalent of getting a V-12 Ferrari for the price of a base model Hyundai. You u can't go wrong, just buy them, and to steal B&Ws slogan, " LISTEN and You'll SEE"

  • Top of the line headphones!

These phones are light, comfortable, and sound absolutely fantastic! This pair is replacing Koss headphones I bought in 1988-which finally broke. I knew I wanted the same brand, for sure!

  • Great inexpensive little retro headset

My mom's been wanting to have a set of these since she fell in love with them all the way back in the mid 1980s. They're cool, lightweight, easy to fold for carrying, and sound just as good as they did 30 years ago.

  • Great Headphones For Portable

The Koss Porta Pros have been around for decades. They sound infinitely better than stock ear buds. They are very bare bones in design with a sliding metal headband. The bass is a little overly thick and intrudes into the midrange a bit. The highs are on the crisp side of neutral. I like the Sennheiser PX 100s a little better but those are almost impossible to find these days.

  • a great model that is still available due to its popularity

This pair of Koss headphones were a quick replacement for a similar pair that started giving problems. This model of headphones is so popular that its value has done nothing but go up in price. It is nice to find a used pair that was in nearly new shape. I will try to get the older pair fixed by Koss as they have a warranty that will make repairs worth it. Happy to have found a replacement at a good price.

  • Might as well buy several (if you don't live alone)

I already have a set, but my wife heard them and stole them from me!
