I bought this camera for a trip to Brazil with friends. I love the style and am a huge Nikon fan, I own a D70 but did not want to bring it with me to Brazil. I liked the features and the picture quality is good. My first few pictures were all blurry on the easy auto function, but it only took a few minutes to figure out the best settings for my shots and from then on the trip was a breeze and I have beautiful pictures to show for it. Seller is great, supper fast shippment.
For a camera in Nikons beginner L series it takes some nice shots. A aperture setting would have been nice. A warning though, if you're shooting sports on sport mode the picture quality goes down to 3mp and are absolutely terrible. Also since this is an L series there is no thread on the end of the lens to add a different one and no way to take the original off. Mine came with a wide angle that fits right over but I would not recommend unless you are super careful. If you're a photog student or beyond a beginner understanding of photography spend the extra money on a S series if you're wanting a coolpix point and shoot.
I really like these "point & shoot" cameras for Nature and Bird photos. The larger a camera I point at a bird the faster it flies away - yet with this one with a little screen - I have gotten GREAT pictures since I am not looking at the bird but just the little screen. They also have great low light picture making ability, for taking landscape and sunset pics - and are so easy to use.

For anyone looking at getting a decent, mid-level point-and-shoot with the look and feel of an SLR, the Nikon Coolpix L120 is by far the best choice, even with its few shortcomings! As a semi-professional photographer who primarily shoots film (but is slowly converting to digital) I always have kept at least a digital P&S camera with me to get those "quick" shots that I can't get because of the time involved in setting up the shot in an SLR. My previous camera, the Minolta DiMAGE S414 had been getting long in the tooth and was starting to glitch. A friend gave me his Nikon Coolpix E5200 and I was immediately hooked on Nikon's legendary imaging quality. However, the 5-megapixel sensor in the Coolpix E5200 was short of what I truly needed, so the same friend who gave me the E5200 also let me try out his Coolpix L110. I was blown away with how well the photos turned out! In my quest to buy my own Coolpix L110, I had heard back in February that Nikon was releasing the Coolpix L120, with a 2-megapixel increase over the L110 and several new features. Having read the first reviews of the camera, it seemed like a sure winner, so I took the plunge on March 14th of this year and secured one for myself. Instantly, I was hooked on it. Right out of the box, this camera is a winner! The settings, user-interface, the sleek design and the nifty zoom selector on the lens barrel makes this camera worth every penny. In the short time I have owned it, I have already taken approximately 1,200 photos with it; everything from nature, bridges, even the sun! (with a solar filter, of course). And with its fantastic 21x optical zoom, I can photograph a car at more than a quarter-mile away and be able to clearly read its license plate! The only drawback I can see is that Nikon has left out the ability to manually control your aperture and shutter speed settings (instead, leaving that for the Nikon Coolpix P500 which I was unimpressed with). However, those small shortcomings are overwhelmed by the simplicity this camera offers. Itching to get into Panorama photography, without the need for an expensive SLR with built-in panorama stitching? Consider it done! With this camera's Panorama-Assist feature (which overlays a small portion of the image onto the screen for the next shot to be composed), and the supplied Arcsoft Panorama Maker Pro 5 software, Panorama-style photography has never been more affordable. Looking to enhance photos with HDR-like color clarity? Consider that done, also! This camera supplies with it built-in D-Lighting that preserves the color intensity of an image yet bringing out the details otherwise hidden within dark shadows. Also supplied, incase you don't want to edit your images in-camera, is Nikon's own View NX-2, which not only includes D-lighting enhancement filters, it also offers a host of other image-editing capabilities!Read full review
Perfect for entry level and great price. Pictures are superb quality and video is in 720p. I use it for filming small projects and taking pictures. A 57 inch tripod would be perfect, I am 6 feet tall ( I have Polaroid $24.99). I use a Sandisk 8gb class 10 ($15.00) and takes pictures very fast and reads them into camera very quickly. I can honestly say I have nothing bad to say about this product. I paid $220 brand new with one year warranty, try and stay around that price. Focus moves rather quickly, however there are two way to use the focus button. I prefer using the one in the lens, I feel I have better control. For beginners, learn how to handle a camera properly and the focus on the lens is going to be easy for you. Is not bulky and very light. Flash is a pop up and works great. ISO is very good for an entry level camera. The zoom is amazing but I would upgrade to a bigger lens, maybe 41x with wide angle and UV filters. Well worth the money spent so far.Read full review
Excellent Camera - size and weight are great - there are so many different environment settings (night, portrait, fireworks, inside/flourscent etc) there is no way you can take a bad photo with this camera. Video is great - not High Def - but nice and clear. Anti-motion stabilizer is nice when shooting video. Flash is easy to control and zoom is amazing... one of the best I found and still take nice clear photos. I'd buy again in a heartbeat! I am a professional photographer and purchased this as a beginner - high end camera for my teenage daughter. It is perfect, for capturing sporting events, kids, and even our dog that never sits still... No lag in capturing action. Very nice quality for the price!
I purchased this camera after having a Canon Sureshot that succumbed to the dreaded lens error... so I was looking for a smallish camera with a more durable & less sensitive lens design. The L120 is super intuitive; I haven't read the manual yet and have it pretty well mastered. It takes incredible pics for a mid price range camera. It's a bit bulkier than a typical point & shoot, so if you want a "drop it in your pocket" sort of camera it might not be for you. I compared this model with several other similar designs and felt it has the best bang for the buck and after shooting with it, I'm even more impressed. It has a fantastic zoom range and takes super sharp closeups as well. The viewing screen is large and brilliant. It uses AA batteries, so I picked up some rechargeable batteries and a wall charger.Read full review
I am a photo journalist, and I have had several digital point & shoot cameras, over the last 5 years, I had the Nikon L110, and was so happy with its performance, when I saw the L120 come out, I could not wait to get it, and it was definitely worth the wait, I highly recommend this camera to anyone who does not want to get a very complicated camera to operate, once you set the camera to your preferences, it pretty much is done, I only change the ISO settings to take photos at night, which this camera does very well using natural lighting conditions, I have never used a flash for any of my night time photography, the high ISO in this camera, negates the use of the flash. Definitely not a waste of money buying this camera, I am extremely happy with its performance.
This camera is real step up from my Kodak Easy Share that I've been using. It is just the right size for easy handling and photo quality is just great.Great value for the price and my wife loves the RED color.
I had a Coolpix L110 previously and liked it so well that I wanted one similiar. The L120 has a few minor - but improved - features. It is easy to use and takes great photos. The camera shop that sold it was great! There were a couple little bonuses thrown in that were not available from other sellers. Great purchase!
