    Best depression era movie

    I saw this movie the first time in the mid 60s, I loved it. To this day people ask me what my favorite is, and this is it. Lots of actors have tried to clone this movie but unsuccessfully. Charles Bronson to me was the silent but deadly bad ass. I definitely recommend this to be watched by everyone. Without a doubt still the best action movie made. Without tons of unbelievable violence. The original bad ass Charles Bronson.

    Bronson at his best!

    Charles is the man this depression era slugfest. So subtle, so nuanced, this movie often flies under the radar of Bronson classics. Few words, lots of action, Bronson defines an era of tough guys like McQueen and Eastwood. Don't forget James Coburn and Strother Martin. Great supporting roles. Coburn, fast, hustling, sleazy yet principled. Strother Martin, my favorite. Quietly, strong, damaged, yet kind and aware of his failings (" a black cloud appeared over my second year in medical school.... I left under it"). Great movie!!!!!
