    The entire picture

This book is not about "our" Vietnam war. This book is about Vietnam, an entire history. Excellent read. It gives a picture of Vietnam back, back in time. A fascinating story about a fascinating country. It also gives a picture of Asia and the competition and conflicts between rival countries. Plus, it provides insight into European imperialist moves and motives in trying to control the riches of the lands of the far east. In depth, intriguing and intellectual.

  • Top critical review

Good read, but his Philippines book is much better. I've bought many copies of "In Our Image Americas Empire in the Philippines"..."

Showed some of the early unit involvement in 1966, but didn't discuss my father's unit, E Co 199 LIB, Redcatchers in the detail he would have liked. They were among the first over there.
