Having been a serious TITANIC student for over 45 years, I collect any documentary and books (which are deemed good enough) on the subject. This title is a great addition for anyone who is interested in the Titanic. Someone with a casual interest to a serious TIITANIC student will find plenty of documentation and interviews with serious TITANIC students, including Walter Lord who wroter "A Night To Remember." This set was originally issued on A & E on a 2-disc set. It was re-issued as part of the History Channel Collection and includes a third disc with more material. I have read all the material a serious Titanic student looks for, including books by the survivors, the 1911 issue of "Shipbuilder" the American and British inquiries of 1912 and various articles and documentries, not to mention boxloads of issues of "The Titanic Commutator" by the Titanic Historical Society which I have had over the years. It is with this extensive research that I can say that I highly recommend "TITANIC - THE COMPLETE STORY" distributed by the History Channel, although I do not know if the title is still available. Search for it on E-Bay! An excellent production - and the documentary sticks to the subject - more than I can say for the 1997 film "Titanic." A MUST for "Titanic" collectors and researchers! This is, by far, the best documentary of the Titanic disaster I have ever seen! I watch it regularly, and cannot emphasize enough the care and time put into the making of this feature. It has rare footage, documents, pictures, and testimonials that cannot be found in any one collection. I am an amateur Titanic historian, and this is the one I show to anyone I can! The remarkable thing about this particular feature is that it not only has candid and informative interviews; they are with historians, survivors, family members, and voice overs of actual passenger letters and memoirs. The accounts bring into sharp focus the impact and long range effect the disaster had on the world, and it always reminds me of what was lost and changed since the great ship went down. It explains why it built, what the world was like at that time, and why it was such a tragedy. It makes one feel like they were on the ship itself, and shows the wreck and artifacts salvaged. I originally owned this on VHS, and wore out my copy twice. Thank goodness, it is on DVD! I consider it the most vital of my Titanic collection; and everyone I have shown it to has been amazed. There is a part that shows a map of the deaths in one area; the loss is staggering. Some of the testimony still brings tears to my eyes.I believe this won an Emmy for best documentary for this year, and David Callum narrated this feature expertly. this is a much simpler and more powerful way to understand the tragedy of the ship's demise, and the visuals are creative and moving. I could not recommend this more strongly!Read full review
This is GREAT. Way cheaper than the original A&E Titanic documentary, with more content. About 100 minutes more! So glad I read that little tidbit in an Amazon review after waiting and waiting for one of the original versions to come along that wasn't $40 - $50+. Ebay's newer version was cheaper. LOVE IT.

This DVD set ( comes as two DVDs ) is an outstanding and factual documentary of events outlining the Titanic tragedy. There are footage scenes taken at the time of the events along with current scenes of the discovery of the wreckage. Also included is a time-line of the events on that faithful night the Titanic sank and how the tragedy has captured the minds of people worldwide, even after so many years since it happened. I would highly recommend this DVD set to anyone interested in historical events and to Titanic buffs alike. Well worth having and keeping in your library of DVDs.
This is a truly brilliant documentary on one of my favorite subjects the Titanic. This three part documentary is roughly six hours long and covers the creation, tragic sinking, aftermath and the cultural impact that the RMS Titanic has had on history. I highly recommend for any who has ever been interested in this subject. It's truly fascinating and you will be amazed at how fast time goes by while watching it.
I had a couple of the programs (Death Of A Dream & Legend Lives On) taped on VHS from a aired program several years ago. As VHS is on its way out and the tape was not that good any more, I wanted to be able to preserve/watch now on DVD. PLUS, some of this I have never seen and the new information was terrific. For anyone interested in Titanic history, this is a good DVD to have in your collection. I also have Secrets Of The Titanic and Titanic Anatomy Of A Disaster now on DVD.
I went this passed April to Pigeon Forge TN. I was there for the opening ceremony for the Titanic Museum. I learned alot and got more and more interested in it's history. I just knew I had to look up more info on the Titanic. This DVD has so much info on it, including some survivors of the Titanic. I was so flabergasted of how the ship went down. I had that feeling when I went to the museum that I had to know more about it. I am so glad I bought this movie. There was and is so much info on it.
This program was originally shown on the history channel. When it came out on dvd I knew right away I was going to get it. I bought this product because of my lifelong interest in the Titanic. It has a lot of factual information as well as rarely seen video footage of the ship. This program is the best documentary I've ever seen about the Titanic and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Great documentary in 3 parts about this historic disaster!
