Love the palm sized dimensions, lens is in my opinion one of the best on the market. Great nightshot and fast zoom. Manual dial for setting focus, or WB or other function is really handy and adds some pro functions to this consumer model. Being an all memory card camera, great battery life as there's no moving parts, it's great for sports with no fear of data corruption as memory cards have come down in price. The only negative aspects of the camera would be screen could be a little bigger and slightly higher res, but this is a constraint due to its form factor size. Focus could be slightly faster as at times strains slightly. Bought it for the lens, manual adjustment ring, no HDD, portability and SONY name.
This camera is a bit pricier compared to other Sony models, but has it's advantages. The larger sensor does very well in low lighting situations. It has nightshot, plus the accessory shoe at the top for external lighting, etc. You can take photos while simultaneously recording HD video which is nice. It has 5.1 surround sound microphone and a nice zoom. What is really useful about this is the software it comes with - you can burn your HD 1080i videos to a regular blank DVD-R (or DVD+R) and play it back on a Bluray player and watch in HD. No need to purchase Bluray burner, blank Bluray discs, etc. One important thing to note: if the DVD burning function gives you errors, it is most likely because you have a certain CODEC installed on your PC the software doesn't like. If you uninstall any CODEC packs you have, it should be fine. I'd recommend getting a 16GB pro duo memory stick for it (as of 1/2010 this is the highest Sony Pro Duo memory stick available); you'll be able to record about 112 mins of full HD at the highest write speed, or over 240 minutes at the second highest setting (HD quality at a slightly lower write speed) but the difference visually is minimal. I purchased a refurbished Cannon VIXIA HF R800 and it was an improvement from my C920, A friend loaned me his HDR-CX12 and it had a smoother image using the same light and capture card. I learned that unlike webcams, the handicams require more light. I added another light and the video quality is so much better than the Cannon, I moved it into my office for a webcam. The used unit arrived in great condition.

I like the Sony Handycam HDR-CX12.This is one of the camcorders with more demand in the market today with high profile feedbacks from consumers Camcorder take photos up to 10 mega pixels, it is very easy to carry, is very lightweight is one of the best Sony Camcorders today!
great low light videos ,small ,perfect in every way.i like the still pictures with 10 mega pixel .
Excellent camcorder. Small, light and the picture quality is better than I had hoped for. On my 50" tv, the pq is every bit as good as my bluray player. This model is a couple of years old, but I got it less than half the price of what it cost new. I didn't want to spend $1000, spent less than $500 and it looks like new. I am very happy with it.
Perfect
