The i5-2400 is a member of the Intel Core series that is designed based on the Sandy Bridge architecture. A hallmark of the Core series is a multi-core CPU, and this particular processor is a quad-core unit. That means that you essentially have four CPUs, and each core can deliver performance independent of the other cores for maximum efficiency. These processors support socket 1155, which is also known as H2 and LGA1155. They will work with all motherboards built to 1155 specifications.Intel ships this Core i5 in several configurations. This cache features Intel SmartCache technology, which provides advanced pre-fetching and other methods to optimize performance.CPU architecture dictates the type of memory supported, and this Core i5 supports up to 32 GB of DDR3 SDRAM. For prime compatibility, that SDRAM must be non-ECC and can operate between 1066 and 1333 MHz. Up to two memory channels are supported as well, and the overall bandwidth is 21 GB/s. This model also supports the Direct Media Interface 2.0 and the PCI Express 2.0 interface. The provides up to 16 PCI Express lanes for peripherals that you can add to your system via the motherboard.The Intel i5-2400 processor also features an integrated graphics solution, which means that your computer won’t require a discrete graphics processing unit. This particular unit is the Intel HD Graphics 2000. It operates at a base frequency of 850 MHz and an upper frequency of 1.1 GHz. This graphics implementation also has a number of advanced features, such as Intel InTru 3D Technology and Clear Video HD.
