You can follow the history of the G.I. Joe franchise with Allison Hart-Burnett, alias Lady Jaye. From her 1985 debut both as a character and an action figure to her inclusion in the modern day, live-action G.I. Joe movies, Lady Jaye remains one of a handful of women in the franchise alongside fellow G.I. Joe team member Scarlett and the evil Baroness of Cobra. Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Lady Jaye action figures show the character’s changing look from her green fatigues of the 1980s to a skin-tight suit from the live-action films of the 21st century. Lady Jaye’s story includes a few twists and turns and a romance with Flint, a fellow member of the G.I. Joe team. Whether in comics, in animated TV episodes, or on film, Lady Jaye has a bit of a temper, and she’s always ready to do what it takes to succeed in her mission. Her first appearance came in a Marvel Comics issue released in 1985, and her first Hasbro action figure was released that same year. Her first episode of the iconic animated TV series came in 1984, marking her formal introduction into the G.I. Joe universe. In these early episodes, her name is listed as Lady J, but by the time Hasbro released her first action figure in 1985, she was known officially as Lady Jaye. The first Hasbro Lady Jaye action figures show quite a different look than her “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and other modern era action figures. The vintage character design shows a muscular build in bright green fatigues with a cap and black gloves and boots. Although the character is known primarily for covert operations against Cobra, none of her action figure releases showcase that particular talent, instead focusing on pure combat roles with plenty of weapons accessories included. The “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” Lady Jaye figure features a smaller, more lithe body build and a form-fitting costume with no hat, though this version of the character also comes equipped with plenty of different military gear to stay ready in the fight against Cobra. As a secondary character, die-hard collectors may have to search a bit more to find complete, mint in box Lady Jaye action figures. Some unboxed figures with incomplete accessories may be available, and newer era figures may be easier to find. Still, for completist G.I. Joe or Hasbro collectors, the Lady Jaye action figures of the 20th and 21st centuries can be an important part of any collector’s assembly. You can capture the G.I.
