To this day, more than 7-8 years after release, Gran Theft Auto 5 is still one of the most popular games of the modern era. This PS3 version has pretty decent graphics for its system, and I got great value for literally an almost brand new game. It's fun just to mess around and blow things up, crash cars, do stunts, and of course play the main story, which features some of the best acting and dialogue for a game, and at times it feels like a film. Awesome job by Rockstar Games and the new ps5 version looks amazing.

While many will jump on the bandwagon and say this game is perfect and the best ever. To a veteran gamer like me, there's nothing really special here. It's similar to the other GTA's in the series, but with a new storyline and characters. I'm going to go ahead and say they took a step back and removed a lot elements that made past GTA games memorable and fun. You can no longer purchase houses or apartments (online only). This would not be a big deal if there were a lot of buildings you could go into or interact with. Can't do police rampages, ambulance side missions, or even firetruck missions. The side missions in this game feel like they were just added in with no real urgency or incentive to play/complete them. There's parachuting, golfing, tennis, hunting, racing (bike, vehicle, boat, airplanes), some extracurricular activities (triathlon), darts, observing (strip-club) and...that's about it. Graphics look good for the most part, but there are some bad textures (ground textures) that make the game look like last gen. Even the radio stations and the music in this game are awful; bad selections, very boring, and the worse in the series. The story in this game keeps you engaged and entertained for the most part. The three endings were disappointing. The last heist mission especially was a huge disappointment considering the other ones were significantly better making you believe the last one would be the epic grand finale. It's not. Overall, the story starts off slow, gets interesting in the middle then ends on a low note. Other things to note, the physics and mechanics in this game are good. They are much improved from GTA IV, especially the driving. They aren't as realistic (car damage is gradually). The customization...well, they're not groundbreaking; in fact, GTA San Andreas had more customization option for clothes, haircuts, and car mod options. Franklin has the most options of the three characters in all three categories. There are even more on the online portion for your created character. The Online portion - I've played a good 72 hours and leveled up to 42 with my character. I've did everything the online portion has to offer from racing with bikes, cars, planes, to missions to deathmatches and survival to golfing and parachuting. I have to say, it gets pretty boring really fast because of the repetitiveness of each mission/activity. It feels like you're doing the same thing over and over again alone or in a crew. Money is incredibly difficult to make (large amounts) and everything is very expensive (overpriced). Tattoos range from 5,000 on up and you only make about 1 to 3 thousand per mission. Apartments are 80,000 on up which will take you awhile to achieve. The high end apartments range from 200,000 to 400,000 and are all the same with no differences except window views. Overall, I've played the story mode twice choosing option A the first time then option B the second(no significant difference - same outcome) alternating between good crew members and bad crew members. I completed all the missions including side missions for each character, finding all spaceship parts, letter scraps, under the bridge, jumps, etc. The online mode is repetitive and boring. I really felt this game was a huge disappointment considering how much potential it had in becoming 'the best game ever.' In the end, it's the hype that carries this one with nothing new or innovative, but more of the same.Read full review
I bought this game because you can play it longer then others. It takes you about 50 hrs or so to go trought all the missions. And it has multiplayer which is also realy good. At first I didn't like the game because I don't usually play this genre of games, but once you get used to controls and get into the story it' starts to feel great. Personaly, I don't like that this game doesen't have menu when you start the game. It's probably good because you get right into the game, but I don't like that. And the most important thing is that this game could have had first person camera while driving in the vehicle, but I guess that was a lot of work because variety of vehicles. And I thought that I'm gonna be able to fully customize my character in online mode, but it's sort of restricted. Other than that, everything is very well done. I like when you get out of water you are actually wet and leave footprints in the sand. There's a lot of great vehicle choice. The story is also awesome. To sum up, I really love this game, and I'm gonna have hours and hours of fun in the next few weeks. It's a lot better than other games, of course not so graphicly, but that isn't the point in GTA series.Read full review
Same Series Same Explosive Campaign and Multiplayer The only Reason Why I got it for the PS3 was for Free Multiplayer Cheap and Still Fun to Play I Strongly Recommend Everyone Else should Get it for the PS3 it does save you a lot of money on multiplayer im basically putting back $60 in my pocket because of it. The PS3 is the only System in the World that will Actually Let People play Free unlike on Xbox and the Next Gen Playstation Systems!

This was a gift for someone else, but from what I've watched my friends do in this game, it's excellent. Woohoo.

I purchased GTA for the Xbox first, and that's what I'm basing this review on; although I recently ordered it for the PS3 to play with friends. I've had a lot of fun with GTA V; despite my few experiences with past GTA titles (San Andreas, Vice City). Once you get past the thrill of running people over, and the general mayhem you can create, there's actually a somewhat interesting storyline to be found that ties all three single player characters together in a spree of crime, money-making, and mischief. There's plenty of humor to be found, although it's not over-the-top, borderline obnoxious comedy like such that can be found in Saint's Row IV. It's appropriately mature humor that can be appreciated by anyone who's actually old enough to buy the game without 'adult' consent. I've found myself asking 'how can anyone not like this game?' at the various references to real life events and businesses that have been ported into their GTA equivalents. If you can appreciate and understand these references, then you can truly enjoy this game. I would strongly advise that you do play online, as the single player gets stagnant after a while...and after the first heist mission where you're left with an absurd amount of money and don't know what to do with it. GTA has stuck to it's roots while managing to bring in new concepts without completely abandoning it's style. The same can't be said for other games currently released in the sandbox genre (Saint's Row IV)Read full review
I have always been a GTA fan and while this game is way better then GTA4 it still has minor shortcomings. GTA4 was boring, no real variety to missions no real sense of an open ended world, not to mention all the boring, mandatory, and time consuming side missions. GTA5 eliminates most of the issues GTA4 had, it has good writing..for those who love dark humor.. but it does not provide a real open ended world. Has a heavily scripted gameplay but the storyline but it gets the job done. Not to mention that the graphics are a huge improvement over GTA4.. Gotta keep in mind that the ps3 runs on extremely aged hardware
GTA 5 on the PS3 is a fantastic game with lots of great visuals and loads of missions that will keep you occupied for quite awhile, big thumbs up to Rockstar for making this installment in the GTA series even better than the last.

Amazing, open-world game. Half the fun for me was just simply exploring around and being in awe of how it was all built. Be ready to be a criminal thug if you plan to do the missions. Cussing, nudity, violence and everything a gamer wants these days lol. Just be ready for it if you're new to the GTA series.
