Reviews
"This text is a timely, insightful, well-written, comprehensive addition to the literature on child and adolescent treatment. This volume should be essential reading for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers interested in the provision, to children and adolescents, of therapeutic interventions that are supported by research evidence. The book is dense with information but very readable at the same time."--Psychotherapy Research "...this book provides a clear survey of evidence-based therapies for children and adolescents that will be useful to researchers and practitioners alike."--Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Book Reviews "This book is essential reading for any behavior therapist working with or thinking about working with children....Kazdin and Weisz have set the standard for future mental health texts dealing with evidence-based treatments....Kazdin and Weisz have succeeded in presenting in-depth and informative chapters by a renowned set of contributors....this superb text should find itself on the shelves of virtually all CBTers. It is meant for both professionals and policy makers concerned with the welfare of children and adolescents. Researchers and clinicians in the field will find this book invaluable. I can think of no finer graduate level text for any course dealing with child clinical issues. At $60.00 it is a bargain considering the elite team assembled to write it."--Child and Family Behavior Therapy "...a recent and excellent example of how research on EBP has influenced current psychotherapy books. This book sets a new standard for rigor, clarity, and level of expertise. A world-class field of contributors forms the panel of invited contributors. Each author presents information regarding how, why, and for whom treatments work....The treatments presented are carefully detailed."--Brief Treatment and Crisis Intervention "This book is a solid, comprehensive and important contribution for any accountable therapist working with children and adolescents....If you are looking for established and well-documented interventions for working with any problem from anxiety, adolescent depression, ADHD, oppositional behaviour, conduct problems, severe emotional disturbances, eating disorders, autism and others, you are likely to find them here....a valuable contribution to paediatric therapy and essential reading for all practitioners who want to ensure they offer the best to their young clients."--Psychotherapy in Australia "This is a reference book for people who are planning research on psychotherapies for children and adolescents, for those looking for a summary of evidence supporting the effectiveness of different psychotherapies, or for those who want to implement a psychotherapy program. It is a thorough volume, well researched and carefully made."--Psychiatric Services"A very rewarding and useful book to read from both clinical and research perspectives."--Journal of the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, "This volume is a winner in all respects. Authoritative, up-to-date, conceptually rich, and laden with practical suggestions, it is 'must' reading for trainees, graduate students, clinicians, and investigators of treatment efficacy and effectiveness. This work will be cited for years to come as a landmark in the development of empirically supported and evidence-based interventions for youth."--Stephen P. Hinshaw, PhD, Department of Psychology, University of California, Berkeley "In this scholarly, provocative, engaging, and timely book, editors Kazdin and Weisz score big once again. They and their contributing authors, a veritable 'who's who' in the field, nicely bridge the gap--or some would say chasm--between treatment outcome research and clinical practice with children and adolescents. The current state of child and adolescent psychotherapy research and practice comes alive in this volume. After many years of neglect, at least in comparison to treatment outcome studies with adults, we can now be assured that we are on the right road to improved and accountable care for the children, adolescents, and families we serve. This is a volume that will be welcomed by seasoned clinicians, beginning clinicians, and graduate clinicians-in-training. It has much to offer all of us."--Thomas H. Ollendick, PhD, Department of Psychology, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University "Kazdin and Weisz have assembled a stellar group of researchers to provide up-to-date information about evidence-based psychotherapies for many of the major mental disorders of childhood and adolescence. Details regarding treatment implementation, training and supervision of therapists, relevance to clinical practice, clinical challenges, and future research directions are described for each therapy. This volume is a 'must' for clinicians, clinical researchers, and others involved in the care of children and adolescents with mental health problems. In addition, it is a wonderful resource for clinical child psychology graduate students and child and adolescent psychiatry residents."--Howard Abikoff, PhD, NYU Child Study Center and Department of Psychiatry, New York University

Synopsis
This comprehensive overview of evidence-based psychotherapies for children and adolescents includes papers on various programmes of research into many of the significant paediatric mental problems, including depression, anorexia, conduct problems and anxiety., This volume provides a uniquely practical overview of evidence-based treatments for social, emotional, and behavioral problems in children and youth. Pioneering clinical researchers offer accessible, hands-on presentations of their respective approaches: what the primary therapeutic goals and methods are, how interventions are delivered on a session-by-session basis, how to tell if the treatment is suitable for a particular child, and what manuals and materials are available to clinicians and researchers. Therapist qualifications are summarized and training and supervision needs reviewed. Chapters also include concise reviews of the evidence supporting each approach and discuss important directions for future research.

This is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is in better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you!

Great seller! Item is what I ordered; good communication; shipped promptly; good value. NOTE TO SELLER: packaging was NOT appropriate for item; it was a flimsy, plastic envelope, with no stiff material to prevent creases. The book came with two deep creases that involved the *entire* item: one is a 1" triangle lower left side (bound edge); the other is a 7" triangle on upper right side (open edge).

Item as described. Shipped quick. Packed well. They accidentally gave me the wrong tracking number. I contacted them twice with my concerns that package third party shipper never was received at USPS as of 5 days after it said they shipped. They helped me through but neglected to see they had issued me an incorrect tracking number. Otherwise, my transaction was excellent. I will give them a 5star rating since they quickly tried to help me with my concerns. Anyone can make a mistake.
