I originally bought this cookbook in 2001. As a young wife and mother I didn’t have much experience in the kitchen, but really wanted to learn. This book taught me so much! The recipes turn out so good and are written with such easy step-by-step direction.

Good Results for This Novice Cook
I'm a forty year old man with almost no cooking experience. I bought this cookbook because I've had good results with Southern Living recipes in the past. The recipes are very easy to follow, even for a novice like myself. I would've never thought a year ago I could be making such delicious meals. If I had to come up with a complaint though, it'd be the number of dishes which require alcohol. It's hard to stay within a budget while having to buy a bottle of wine when only a 1/2 cup or so is needed. I've made that problem manageable by drinking the rest!

The Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook
I teach culinary arts. I use this along with other texts to demonstrate how 'real cooks' at home prepare a meal. The book is chocked full of hints, history and information and almost reads like a novel. Of course, Southern Living is an absolute star when it comes to photography. The pictured food looks lip-smackin' good. Check out the recipe for the Hummingbird Cake, a Southern classic and the most requested recipe in all of Southern Living publications.
