'Colin Read has presented a useful account of the modern financial system and the pitfalls of the current regulatory structure. This book will be very helpful to those trying to make sense of the current financial crisis' - Dean Baker, Co-Director, Center for Economic Policy Research, Washington, D.C., USA 'Professor Read adroitly straddles the divide between arcane economic reasoning and the layperson's appetite for understanding the intricacies of the modern financial system. The book presumes some basic knowledge of economics in its coverage of a rather extensive landscape of topics. At the same time, it eschews heavy theoretical exposition in favor of a conversational approach with moorings at key points in history and a blend of social commentary. Professor Read is thoughtful and provocative in building toward his global prescriptions for a better economic future.' - Wade Thomas, Professor of Economics, State University of New York College at Oneonta, USA 'GetAbstract recommends this comprehensive manual to anyone who wants a firmer, basic understanding of economics.' - getAbstract.com, "Colin Read has presented a useful account of the modern financial system and the pitfalls of the current regulatory structure. Synopsis
Colin Read explores the intricacies of modern financial markets and explains in easy to understand terms the reasons for global financial unrest arising from the sub-prime mortgage crisis and global economic meltdowns. He proposes that a well educated economic citizen is our most effective tool to prevent future financial collapses, like the one witnessed in 2007-2008. He walks us through a number of topics in economics, and connects these topics to real world financial problems. He then leaves us with a series of recommendations that can strengthen the economy and leave it less prone to manipulation. Throughout, he describes the role of globalization and the expected profound impact countries like India and China will have on our economic future., In easy to understand terms and journalistic style, Read describes the reasons for global financial unrest arising from the sub-prime mortgage crisis and economic meltdowns. He walks the reader through a number of topics in economics and connects these topics to real world financial problems concluding with recommendations for the future., In easy to understand terms and journalistic style, Read describes the reasons for global financial unrest arising from the sub-prime mortgage crisis and economic meltdowns. This is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is in better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you!

Great seller! Item is what I ordered; good communication; shipped promptly; good value. NOTE TO SELLER: packaging was NOT appropriate for item; it was a flimsy, plastic envelope, with no stiff material to prevent creases. The book came with two deep creases that involved the *entire* item: one is a 1" triangle lower left side (bound edge); the other is a 7" triangle on upper right side (open edge).

Item as described. Shipped quick. Packed well. They accidentally gave me the wrong tracking number. I contacted them twice with my concerns that package third party shipper never was received at USPS as of 5 days after it said they shipped. They helped me through but neglected to see they had issued me an incorrect tracking number. Otherwise, my transaction was excellent. I will give them a 5star rating since they quickly tried to help me with my concerns. Anyone can make a mistake.
