Asimov does an excellent job at providing additional context to the bible. It's very easy to read and has helped my biblical knowledge improve.

Looking for a historical perspective on the bible? Here you go
Asimov obviously spent a great deal of time and effort at this undertaking. Having read such publications as "Who Wrote the Bible" by Richard Elliot Friedman" helped to fill in some blanks he left in the section covering the Pentateuch. Some of the blanks are pretty big. I recommend that for people who are interested. There are some pretty obvious assumptions in his work, but it is interesting and compelling for someone who is familiar with Asimov, and interested in seeing how Asimov treats the subject.

A rational view of Biblical history.
Book is unmarred, and an excellent resource for gaining an historico/geographical sense of an outsider's (theologically) view of Biblical events. A great addition, especially for the price, to any reasonable reader's library.
