    Film Score Composer Max Steiner's Title Songs

    During the 1930's, 40's & early 50's composer by Max Steiner scored the soundtracks for many Warner Bros. films, especially those which Bette Davis starred in. "Now, Voyager," is one such film. This CD shows off the films Max Steiner should be known for having composed the musical scores. On this CD The National Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Charles Gerhardt, to perform these 10 title film tracks of Steiner's: 1) Now, Voyager 2) King Kong 3) Saratoga Trunk 4) The Charge of the Light Brigade 5) Four Wives 6) The Big Sleep 7) Johnny Belinda 8) Since You Went Away 9) The Informer 10) The Fountainhead For those songs with lyrics, the Ambrosian Singers perform. This recording was made in studio in stereo~

    Not quite "Now Voyager" but good survey

    Rather than being the extended score of the film "Now Voyager" this disc contains short suites from many of Steiner's fine film scores very well performed and recorded for modern audiences. It would be better if full-length scores were available as they are for a few of his films. But these are excellent introductions to several of his better-known ones such as King Kong, The Informer, and The Big Sleep.
