Synopsis
James Havard's highly individual work draws inspiration from Native American Indian and African tribal cultures, as well as cave paintings and children's drawings - and is often full of inner demons and dark, multicultural symbols. Yet they are also affectingly humourous, endowed with qualities that we recognise immediately as inherent to the human condition. This publication, the first extensive monograph of Havard's work, focuses on the past two decades of his oeuvre, presenting painting, sculpture, and printwork. It includes more than 120 colour plates and illuminating texts that describe his process and artistic development, and that situate this body of work in the context of the artist's life. Havard's work is included in many collections, including the Guggenheim Museum, New York; and the Smithsonian Institution. A full, illustrated chronology and documentation of his career complete this comprehensive tome., James Havard is a contemporary artist who is considered a pioneer of abstract illusionist paintings whose varied technique includes collage and mixed media., James Havard is a contemporary artist who is considered a pioneer of the 'abstract illusionist' school, whose varied techniques include collage, squeezing paint directly from the tube, and especially the use of prehistoric Native American culture and art. Havard himself is often influenced by American Indian and African tribal cultures and cave paintings, which have imbued his work with sensitivity and passion. "James Havard" is the first extensive monograph of the works of this influential artist. It includes an in-depth examination of his artistic processes and development, an illustrated chronology and complete documentation of his career. 114 colour plates

Package was a little slow in shipping initially, so I contacted the seller and they graciously upgraded the shipping to 2-day. The book got here quickly and it was in the "new" condition that was claimed. You often learn the most about people when they are challenged and have the opportunity to either rise to the challenge, or not. So in that respect, they passed the test with flying colors. All in all a good experience, thank you.

I have an extensive Napoleon Hill book collection. I purchased this book to replace a copy that I have worn out. This edition is becoming more and more difficult to find. I was willing to pay the price for it, as it was advertised like new, or new. The condition is that and the seller actually covered the dust jacket with a mylar cover. At some point my collection will go to someone a d this book will be part of it. The seller was excellent in communication and provided fast shipping.
