Th Greatest Amp Ever
Great Amp. This is my 2nd Yamaha.. They are the best by any standards... 7 HDMI Inputs. My single complaint is that there is only 1 RCA Video input channel. My old one had 2. Having 2 older items this was important, but certainly not a deal killer. I also like the Presence Speaker Option. Really adds reality to the TV....

Too difficult to use. The inputs jump around and don't always get recognized when you turn on equipment but sometimes they do(bizarre).. The remote yes could have bigger keys and be back lit. Yamaha does it again
Maybe I’m old. I upgraded from a pioneer recover from 2000. This rocks, very easy to setup, connected to the WiFi immediately and the sound fields are impressive. The volume knob is a little cheap, coming from smooth or tactile feeling pieces of old. Other than that pretty impressive. Great receiver, great app to run it
I love the sound that Yamaha receivers put out. This has all the bells and whistles, and if you’ve had a Yamaha receiver before, setup is simple. If not, directions are straight forward and easy to follow. The app, iOS and Android compatible, is the star of the show. You can literally do everything with it, and add in the MusicCast app and the control of the sound from this receiver is phenomenal. Well worth the price. Nearly nailed it!
This thing produces beautiful sound quality. After making the initial connections the RX-A870 alerted me to a firmware revision. After that got updated I ran the YPAO calibration tool. The YPAO room correction made adjustments that were spot on. I love the programmable scene memories. It looks down on power compared to the competition but in listening to it, nothing is missing. I wish it had the ability to change what the mute button does and had an RDS and HD tuner but aside from those omissions, this thing is awesome sauce indeed! Step up from stereo to this
Sounds pretty good for the price... Need good speakers to go with... Plenty loud for moderate and safe listening levels, if u like to crank it much higher than safe levels u may need more power... I am running 5.1 at moment on 5 /100 w speakers may b 7.1 will start to tax unit maybe not Pirfect for my needs but wouldn't want weaker model.
