In The Politics of Hope , which historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., published in 1963 while serving as a special assistant to President Kennedy, Schlesinger defines the liberalism that characterized the Kennedy administration and the optimistic early Sixties.     The Politics of Hope and The Bitter Heritage 0 Schlesinger, Jr.

    Not finished reading yet, but some of the best writing I have ever read. Brilliant. Would love to read Schlesinger Jr's take on today, 2016. Will seek out his writings up until his death. Insightful, sensitive, sometimes like poetry...so well done. No one I've read in a long long time matches this man's talent and heart.
