Emergency and survival preparedness at its best
This is probably the best emergency whistle you could ever get for an emergency hiking or hunting pack. It is always best to prepare, first to be able to avoid any mishaps and second, to be able to handle any emergencies. This whistle is, simply and clearly stated, LOUD! It is in my emergency pack and being supplied to my children for the same. Hope you never have to use it but be happy you have it if you ever need it. It will provide the sound signal you need to be located in any wilderness emergency.

Better than the other "loudest whistle' from that other company.
I've had a couple of these for a decade. My wide ranging bird dog responds well to them. I bought 6 more for attachment to life vests for my boat. There's another make whistle also claims to be loudest. Perhaps true if you just measure the narrow frequency band it makes. All ear/hearing tests I've read judge the storm whistle to be loudest, and the warbling sound it makes across a wide spectrum of frequencies makes it much more likely to be heard than the one single shrill note of the other whistle.

Loud and really not all that big
Lightweight and smaller than most palm sized sized pepper spray's. I gave one of these whistles to friends who own a food cart in a mean part of the city. They shouldn't be deflecting undesirable behavior with physical methods that could cause after hours retaliation — vandalism. This shrill whistle alerts the public and other food cart owners up and down the block and then some, trouble makers soon want out of the spotlight.

Great Tool, My wife and I use these whistles to locate and keep track of each other in the thickness of the Colorado mountain terrain and forests when we get separated foraging for mushrooms. The storm whistle also works excellent to train and get your dogs attention when they run off.

Proven effective against mountain lions and bears
We live remotely on the side of a mountain. I have used this whistle and scared away a mountain lion that was pacing outside of and looking into our French door windows. I have also used it to frighten a bear away that was within 12 feet of our living room window. This whistle immediately frightened both away.and they have not returned.
