    Seems to help minor bursitis

    I don't have arthritis and bought Voltaren to try and treat some apparent bursitis near achilles tendon and in shoulder. This product is not approved/tested for this as it says for arthritis only. Labeling further states that it is not tested for any shoulder problems. I can say that it does help with the inflammation near achilles. I'm seeing a PT for shoulder, so it is hard to say whether it has worked as PT and home exercises are helping. The diclofenac NSAID is delivered directly to the pain area rather than taking ibuprofen pills etc. and this I suppose makes it easier on liver. For bursitis it seems better than Penetrex or DMSO. The labeling instructions are narrowly drawn up and detailed perhaps due to legal concerns.

    It was a good value. The better value was I got 2 -5.29 oz tubes of the Walgreen generic for $3000( the name brand was 1 tube at 1.76oz. Big difference six times as much product for triple the price and it is the same thing.

    Pricey, but very efficacious

    I first started using Diclofenac gel when it was only available by prescription. I had only a $5 copay for the large (5.3 Oz.) tube. I think the current OTC Voltaren Gel is overpriced. That being said, it works! It is a topical NSAID, and as such has some potential side effects, so use it as directed on the box and don’t slather it all over your body. It goes to work quickly, seems to provide long lasting relief from pain and stiffness, with no strong odor like many other pain relieving gels and creams. I keep a large tube in the medicine cabinet, and a small tube in my golf bag.
