      Patrol Leader Handbook BSA Scouting Green Bar Bill

      This was the manual for youth leaders in the Boy Scout program. Boy Scout troops are divided into patrols of roughly 4-8 boys. The patrol was designed by Lord Baden-Powell, who created Scouting, as well as patrols, in 1907. The book is divided into 2 parts: "Being a Patrol Leader" & "Tools for Your Job". The 1st part is divided into chapters covering topics such as patrol spirit, meetings, hiking, camping, & advancement. The 2nd part is divided into sections covering topics such as games, menus, campfires, & projects. There are black & white illustrations throughout the book. The book has contributions from Keith Monroe & William Hillcourt. Danish-born Hillcourt is more famously known in Scouting as "Green Bar Bill". He wrote several of the Boy Scouts of America's (BSA) publications ...

      One of the best Patrol Leader Handbooks published!

      I own the first five editions of the Patrol Leader Handbook and this is one of my favorites. The text is an easy read (I read the whole book while my wife had her hair done) and contains very practical and helpful information about leadership for boys. The principles taught in this book apply to situations outside of scouting as well. Very well done. Definitely a classic!!
