    USB Video For Linux, Mac & Windows

    A lot lot of USB video modules work with Windows and maybe Mac but few work well with Linux. I needed to run an external monitor on my Acer C720 that I converted to SeaBIOS with Ubuntu 18.04. The external HDMI port only worked with my TV due to an apparent driver quirk. So I bought the Star Tech USB 3.0/DVI (HDMI to DVI). After downloading a Linux driver from the StarTech website, I installed the driver as instructed by running the .sh install file. I was up and running quick and easy. My C720-3605 has a 1.7 Mghz i3 CPU. I was surprised that the video speed was good for CAD with no apparent slowdown. I doubt that it would be adequate for high level gamers but short of that, it's great. This StarTech DVI unit also comes with a DVI/VGA converter plug. So it works well to go from HDMI on ...
