With a focusing range of 0.59 feet to infinity, you can capture amazing shots as far as the eye can see and indeed to an infinite distance.Zeiss Touit 12-millimeter f/2.8 Aspherical manual focus/autofocus lenses with Distagon Optical RetroFocus are fast and exact ultra-wide angle lenses for use with Sony E and NEX mirrorless cameras. The metal bayonet style mount makes accurate alignment easy. The rounded nine-blade aperture gives out of focus areas of the image an attractive highlight quality. The floating element in the Distagon design includes two aspherical elements and three anomalous, partial dispersion, glass elements to reduce optical aberrations and distortion even to the periphery of the image. This offers improved clarity, sharpness, and brightness. The patented Carl Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating on the surface of all lenses improves light transmission and contrast by reducing lens flare, reflections, and ghosting.This Zeiss lens has a full frame 35-millimeter equivalent focal length of 18 millimeters. It is completely compatible with all camera functions, including exposure control, as well as phase detection and fast hybrid autofocus systems. The rigid metal barrel can stand up to rough conditions, and the rubberized control rings give you the precise control you need to take your best shot. This aspherical AF lens allows you to get amazing wide-angle performance from your Sony DSLR.The Touit 12mm has fixed/prime focal length of 12-millimeters and an aperture range of f/2.8 to f/22. This allows for pristine low light photography and interesting shallow depth of field effects. The product is designed for use by cameras housing APS-C sized sensor elements. With a 99-degree viewing angle, the Zeiss Touit has one of the widest angles of vision for this sensor type. The product supports Version 02 Firmware and is compatible with all the of the Sony E-mount system hardware. This lens is compatible with many accessories, including a variety of 67-millimeter, threaded filters. A lens hood is integrated into the product itself. This item was made in Japan, and each lens undergoes 60 steps of quality control to ensure complete functionality and stunning image quality.Weighing only 9.17 ounces and having a length of 3.19 inches, with a diameter of 2.6 inches, the Carl Zeiss lenses for the Sony E system is small enough to take with you to provide exceptional image quality on the go.     Love this Wide Angle autofocus lens on my Sony A6500

    This lens is light weight, very fast autofocus, and produces great images on an APS-C camera like the Sony A6500. Equivalent focal length 18mm and rectilinear, not noticeable distortion at the edges.

    Best of the Best

    I have not compared, but the Sony 10-18mm may be a better VALUE since it zooms in/out to the equivalent of a 15-27mm on Full Frame reference vs. only 18mm for this when using crop sensor it was made for. However, as a single focal length is Superb for those who want the ultimate sharpness on a wide angle optic. I use mine on an A7R III (auto APS-C crop from FF) and A6000 APS-C. Best of the best.

    More suited for photography

    Very good image/video quality but the noise it produces during video capture could be disturbing even with the firmware update, focus a lil bit in video too atleast when comparéd to other native emount lenses

    Needs firmware update

    This lens has a flaw which may be corrected by having the manufacturer update its firmware. The focus motor continually operates causing an unpleasant user experience that prohibits clean audio during video usage. In my case this lens was advertised for use with the A7 series cameras which is not correct as it does not cover the full frame. It is designed for smaller sensor mirrorless cameras.
