    Portable reading at its best

    I really like the Kindle line in general. The Paperwhite is a more expensive and arguably better alternative but for a basic no frills ereader, this one does great. It provides good response to touches and has high pixel density. Battery life is great with use and while idle.

    Faulty battery that wasn't disclosed.

    Bought this because Amazon Prime day deals were terrible this year. I bought this fully aware that there were cosmetic damages as disclosed in the description. It was also listed as "fully functional" which is somewhat of a fib (I feel like lie is too extreme of a word) because the battery drains insanely quick. The appeal of the Kindle is the battery life that lasts weeks bc it has no backlight and no LCD/LED set up. I plugged this in, it charged from 0% to 100% in about 15min and then went from 100% to 62% in 20min of being unused. I tried restarting, I tried resetting, I checked to see if there were updates. Nothing. Now, I'm going to have to buy and learn how to replace the internal battery, use the Kindle plugged in ONLY (which defeats the purpose of it being a mobile reader), or buy ...

    Exactly what I needed

    I've wanted a kindle for a long time, but never bought one because I had the kindle app on both my tablet and my phone so I didn't think having the eReader would make much of a difference. Oh, but how wrong I was! The app is good in a pinch, but it drains my battery, the backlight strains my eyes, and downloading books takes up more space than I really want to devote to it. So in general, I really don't use the apps at all. My whole point in getting the kindle app was to read more books. Since the app experience was so unenjoyable, I ended up reading less often than I'd hoped.     Inconvenient and proprietary

    It’s easy to read but Amazon isn’t really easy to deal with. Then continue to rubbish up the Home Screen with unwanted ads and stupid,irrelevant suggestions demanding a fee to remove their intrusions. Also,my local library is moving away from a format that works with the Kindle,making it a less convenient choice. While the screen makes reading easier than any other type of device I have to say I wouldn’t buy it again.

    Took some getting used to!!

    Is in great shape, looks like new, took some getting used to & learned I needed a wireless router to download books!! Was able to register it & buy a couple books at my Brother's next door. Was instantly hooked once I got to reading on it & finally got my own router installed!! I only wish it had back light so I could read at night, but still a great item for the price & a good way to get started with Kindle!!
