    Great performing inexpensive front derailleur

    I bought this as part of a project to convert my Mongoose Hitch fat-tire bike from a 7-speed into a 24-speed. (I am not a fan of the current trend to have one chainwheel in front and a 10 (or more) cog cassette on the rear hub.) I had to also purchase a mounting extension to position the derailleur correctly with respect to the triple chainwheel (I used a 22-32-42). This combination worked very well. This derailleur shifts quickly and smoothly. Better, in fact, than a higher-end one I have on a more conventional mountain bike. With an 8-speed 11-32 cog at the rear, I get a nice incremental range of ratios that I really makes my low-price (and heavy) Mongoose a joy to ride.
