Having already got a copy of the LP and CD I was a bit dubious about buying the remastered CD but my fears were quickly eased after reading the comprehensive liner notes about how the album was made and the references to both African music and experimental music. The music itself is slightly different than the normal CD with the addition of several other tracks that didn't make the original these are mostly instrumental but are nevertheless still worth it. It is a good starting point for anyone who would be interested in African music or dipping their toe into experimental/ cut up/ looping although both Eno and Byrne are by no means making any claims to either discovering or inventing either genres and short of writing a comprehensive list of African influenced mainstream artists they allude to them Sly Stone King Sunny Ade to name but a few .As regards the cut up looping (this was 1979/80)they give a good grounding in who was there first that I will definately be following up . Buy this if not just for the notes and the excellent Regiment track then for the Mea Culpa film.www.bush-of-ghosts.comRead full review
a fantastic collaboration, extremely innovative in its time and even still now. full of experimental techniques and ideas yet still extremely musical. Full of hidden rhythms and melodies, gives a wonderful insight into the inspiration of many of today's finest musicians. Find these two name checked everywhere!
I'm a real fan, still listening, since 28 years ! It's the perfect record, a real inspiration for Moby and others. Indispensable !
