Great study resource
I haven't taken the actual MCAT yet but just reading the physics book and working the problems raised my physical sciences score by 5 points (12) on the practice tests. I am taking a prep course which is helpful because it structures my time but these books are definitely a much better resource for content review than the course books. I just finished the verbal book and it seemed a little pretentious and focused on bashing the other methods but I haven't tested their strategy yet so maybe they deserve it. Absolutely recommended though. Best of luck on the MCAT :)
This book is absolutely fabulous. I am currently taking the Kaplan class, and using the EK books on the side, and I have consistently found the EK books to offer more succinct descriptions, and time saving tips, when compared with the Kap books. Kaplan offers more details (which can both help to jog the brain, and hurt, by overwhelming you with info) but the EK books and short and sweet. Read a lot of reviews before ordering saying their stuff was good, and was doubtful, but having read them, I now agree. Do yourself a favor and buy these books, you won't regret it.
How to make a 44 on the MCAT..
The Examkrackers set is the best comprehensive MCAT review on the market. Everything you need to know for the MCAT is compiled into 5 easy-to-read books. Each book covers its subject in depth, but in a terse, to-the-point manner. The information that is required knowledge for the MCAT is specially highlighted in the book, with sufficient explanation and background information. Throughout the books, there are multiple example questions, with entire test sections in the back. I recommend these books to anyone who has not yet begun studying for the MCAT, and also to those of you who are hardcore and need multiple review books. :)
This study guide is great because it is not like your usual boring, complicated study guide. It is actually written in laymen's terms that is very straight forward and easy to understand. The book event tells you which items are definitely going to be on the MCAT and which are just background info so you're not waisting time memorizing things you don't need. It comes with mini-quizes within each chapter and 30-min exams for each chapter as well. Greatest study aid ever!
Pretty rad when used with other materials
Liked: Colorful pages and they seem to get it pretty straight with only the info you need to know. Disliked: Lot of errors that I have seen others write about. Didn't think it would piss me off as much as it did, but when you forget to provide an answer to a question that is pushing it (especially when you pay $175). Also, some basic material received too elaborate of a response while harder concepts got the cold shoulder. This is wacker than Ben Affleck in a comedy if you ask me. However, if you have other materials such as Kaplan or princeton you should be good. Holla
