Basic camera

Camera is decent, takes quality photos,and is great for a new user. Or possibly something you take on a trip and aren't afraid to loose.it is light weight. It lacks other settings ,such as panoramic it's super basic. Sad thing is I own a Kodak I bought for $98 and has far more uses. But all in all it was a starter kit for my daughter who is 12 yrs old ,bad part she already is use to the kodaks functions and the Canon is like going a step backwards instead of forward.

A bulky little camera with a bit more lag time between photos than I like, but picture quality is good

So far a very nice camera overall. I have had several Canon powershots, not this model, and so I already had the USB cord for uploading, and a memory card to use. (It did not come with those items.) It is "fat" and won't fit in a pocket like my old powershots do, but it's easy to hold. Nice big viewing screen. I will have to buy a special case due to the odd shape. The main thing besides the bulky design that might be a negative for many folks is the lag time between photos. If you're not trying for action shots or to capture just the right expression on a face, it's not an issue, you just need to be patient. My subjects aren't moving so it's OK for me.

Very nice, I'd buy it again, despite...

At first I wanted it just a little larger for my hands, maybe even heavier, too. Then I tried it for the first time and I was frustrated that I would zoom into something, it would focus on an item and it would be sharp. I would have reach the longest zoom possible, I'm ready to snap it, however, it went out of focus. So frustrating. Well that's no more at all. I'm now after 2 days happily getting great results. I learned to have a little patience with the zoom, how to work the three main settings: macro, normal, infinity, and I changed the settings to 'Superfine' from 'Fine'. The results are nice shots in all types of light, from about. 5" away to 300' away. I'm truly enjoying this camera. I purchased it to take photos of plants, bugs, and my landscaping business projects. I'm going to figure out how to put some of the photos I've taken onto this review. I plan on keeping it. I recommend this camera.
