Shoosh has given workshops and made presentations on yoga and arthritis at international rheumatology conferences and is especially interested in working with lymphedema. She also has two YouTube videos: Lymphatic Flow Yoga Series and Yoga Seated Sun Exercises . Shoosh was the Founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit Enhancement, Inc., working with breast cancer survivors for fourteen years. While at Enhancement, one of her projects was the creation and administration of educational seminars for lymphedema therapists out of which grew Lymphedema Seminars, the company she now owns and runs. Lymphedema Seminars is a company that holds educational weekend seminars around the country, providing state-of-the-art training for PTs, OTs, RNs, and others working with lymphedema. She is one of many presenters at these seminars and gives presentations on yoga for lymphedema. Shoosh began her yoga training in India in the 1970s and continued with Sivananda Yoga teachers in Los Angeles. She has a background in Iyengar-style yoga and has studied with Joel Kramer, Ganga White, and Tracey Rich, among many others. Shoosh loves to teach and has taught yoga at universities, public schools, yoga centers, health clubs, and privately throughout the country. SynopsisEight simple and relaxing yoga sequences for fibromyalgia patients looking to manage their pain, alleviate their fatigue, and improve their overall well-being Fibromyalgia is characterized by widespread pain in muscles, ligaments, and tendons, as well as fatigue and multiple tender points ( places on the body where slight pressure causes pain). Although mainstream medicine has yet to devise a successful plan for treating fibromyalgia, yoga offers sensible strategies for managing--and sometimes overcoming--the pain. Written by a yoga teacher and suitable for both yoga novices and veterans, this book is grounded in simple movements, breathing techniques, and guided visualization and relaxation sessions. Readers learn to reduce stress and manage fibromyalgia through eight sequences: four for pain relief, one to diminish fatigue and improve sleep, and three for maintaining body awareness and general flexibility. The author's simple, supportive language and mixture of theory, practice, and the latest scientific data offer hope for one of today's most challenging health conditions., Fibromyalgia is characterized by widespread pain in muscles, ligaments, and tendons, as well as fatigue and multiple tender points ( places on the body where slight pressure causes pain).
