    Gets the job done

    I bought this pinpointer because of its price and it has exceeded my expectations. My wife uses a detectnix that has a 2-2.5" range and using it can be frustrating, you don't know where your find really is. The Bounty Hunter reads a coin sized object 1" from the tip, making it easy to find the item. The small wand works great in loose soil for popping your target out as well. It is my primary pinpointed now but it makes a good backup to a more expensive unit as well.

    Not very good at all

    Got this for my grandson and his first detector I did not want to buy a top of line g^^^^tt or w^^^^s but hoped this would be some what decent but it is not... by the time you get the gain turned down to where it settles down the probe tip has to practically touch the object to sound off. By the time this pointer sounds off you usually have visual of the object. This to me defeats the purpose of a pinpointer. This pointer is only good for string the soil around to find the object. If you want something to just stir the soil save your money and take a spoon with you, if you want a pinpointer but can't afford the price of a new higher end pointer that actually does it's job look for a deal on a used one.

    Does the job

    This pinpointer does exactly what it's supposed to do, pinpoint your finds. Oh, you could spend $80 or more for a Garret and the like, if you're lazy, but I don't see the point. To be fair, the other big brands don't have a knob you could bump and upset your setting like this one does. A pain for sure. If the sensitivity is set correctly, you will have to be within an inch of your find before it will buzz. So long as you keep your setting maintained, you're good to go. If considering getting one, do it, it's $40 well spent. I wouldn't want to be without it.

    A plus Budget Pin Pointer

    This very low cost pin pointer works extremely well. It beeps and vibrates when it is close to an object made of metal. It will let you know when the tip of the pointer is close to small coins, rings etc.. hidden in the soil. My pointer beeps within around 3/4" to 1" distance from an object. The plastic body of the pointer is well designed with a comfortable hand grip. The power comes from a 9 volt battery stored within the handle and is easy to change. A dial on-off switch located at the front of the handle also adjusts for sensitivity, although setting the switch requires the highest adjustment. At the low cost that I paid for my pointer I am very satisfied because it works well and does the job. I can buy five more of these pointers for the cost of one of the expensive pointers - so ...

    Basic small metal detector

    I'm using this detector to find nails and other metal objects Inwood before running it through saws and planers. No problem finding a nail on the other side of a 4 x 4. It seems a little bit flimsy but if you don't drop it too much it will probably be just fine. Great for the price.
