I’m running the latest firmware and the sound quality is good out of this sound bar. Sound stage is wide and rich, sub bass is nice and has depth for action movies but doesn’t have the low frequencies needed for that added dimension which a great sub can produce. Center channel can still use some more manual control. The sound bar automatically switches to atmos mode when a atmos package is detected, the center left and right channel adjustments are switched to be controlled by the atmos metadata but you can still update the bass, ceiling and rear speakers (I got the spk8 rear speakers — you should too). Overall I really like this sound bar but got a great deal on it. This review would have been more critical had I paid retail price. The atmos height speakers are adjustable and do a good job at pumping out sound and do add to the experience but the whole “bounce off ceiling” is not that great. Aesthetics of this sound bar os great and pair well with a 65” TV.

Good, but not good enough to justify the cost.
The sound is very good, but even after the firmware update and software adjustments through the android app and remote the center channel is still weak during DVD (blu-ray or 4K) playback. I have the center channel adjusted up to the maximum of 6 and still dialog is weak. Dolby Atmos is adequate but not as pronounced as I had hoped it would be. But for the cost of the bar it should be better than it is. Subwoofer is good too but could be much better, even after adjusting it to the maximum setting. The build quality is excellent. I also purchased the LG wireless rear speakers which helps the surround. Without them it would not be a good theatrical experience.

Great quality for the price
Only issue is I was replacing an SK9Y with this soundbar due to Bluetooth audio lag when using Dolby Atmos with my brand new LG TV and the lag issue still exists. They tout this as one of the good features of having both a TV and Soundbar by LG, why not fix this issue? Otherwise the soundbar is great, love Dolby Atmos sound out of a bar and not having to run speakers everywhere. I paired these with the matching rear speakers (a wireless receiver that connects a L/R speaker via wire) for a true 7.1 Dolby Atmos soundbar solution.

Sound bar works adequately.If I had purchased the SK10y from Best Buy I would have returned it also.
Sound quality is very good and easily installed. My concern is that the rear speakers (LS8-S) that work with the SK19Y are advertised as being wireless. After purchasing the rear speakers and opening the box, the speakers are NOT wireless, but require a receiver to communicate with the soundbar while requiring WIRES from the receiver to the speakers. This defeats the purpose of having wireless speakers. I returned the rear speakers and inquired if there were any truly wireless speakers that would work with the SK10Y and the Best Buy tech said no.

Got my space back w/o all the speakers. Love it!
We have had custom speakers for years. We were used to the sound of the theaters. We finally got tired of all the space being taken up with 5 speakers plus the sub-woofer. We bought a new large screen TV and the LG SK 10Y Sound Bar. after a little tweeking to our preference We love it. Highly recommend it.
