Listen to advice, but choose what works for you.
I am new to bird watching, and everywhere I asked I was told that 8x42 was the “only” choice - but I knew that I wanted something more. I was told that 10x was “too much” and x50 was “not recommended” - and at the mention of 12x I was shown the door! I visit estuaries, salt flats, gravel pits and reservoirs to view wading birds at long distance, and these 12x50 Midas binoculars are perfect for me - yes when it’s windy on a flood bank they can be a bit wobbly, but at least I can see what I’m looking at. In a hide, with elbows braced - or on a hide clamp - they are absolutely spot on. Many a dedicated 8x watcher has, somewhat reluctantly, admitted that they are better for the longer distances. As always, listen to advice, but choose what works for you. These work for me!
