    Gorgeous Technicolor musical numbers; no plot.

    The introduction to this film states that the Ziegfeld Follies had no plot; it was a stage show with un-connected musical numbers and beautiful girls. That's exactly what you get here. It's a variety show with no storyline. The opening number is one of the most incredible I've ever seen, featuring a carousel with live white horses, dozens of dancing ladies in Technicolor pink, and Lucille Ball cracking a whip at women dressed like black leopards. Really! The film is worth seeing for this scene alone...but it goes downhill from there. The problem is that many of the acts are severely outdated. Today's viewers may have trouble relating to a skit about a man trying to get a pay-phone operator to connect him. There are no African-American performers except in Lena Horne's number, which does ...

    Lush Technicolor extravaganza and a must for fans 1940's era MGM musical comedy. The dream dance sequences between Fred Astaire and Lucille Bremer are stunning. Comedy skits by Fanny Brice and Red Skeleton also fill out this take of a 40's version of a Ziegfeld produced Follies.

    Classic movie

    This is a Beautiful Classic Movie. I now have all three of the Ziegfeld movies. Which I enjoy watching. I love the old movies. Just wish the 2 other ones were in color also. Even though the customs are so Beautiful in black and white.
