basically a good purchase
Pleased with product, shipping was fairly quick and trouble free. I have found that these are available through Nintendo at a comparable price, but did not find it till after Christmas. I suppose it was still worth it to see my Grwon Daughters playing it so enthusiastically 20 years after playing it as children.

Works great but a few issues.
It took me a while to get it to work on my tv but I eventually got it working BUT there is an AWFUL buzzing coming from it. After doing some research online I found the culprit is the power supply that is shipped with it. The NES needs a 9v 850ma power supply and a 10v 1000ma is what was given. Luckily I have a retro game store near me so I was able to get the correct power supply and it no longer hums. So be aware if you purchase this the power supply may be wrong. Also the only way I could get it working was with the AV cables provided. The Aux converter that comes with it would not work so I couldn't connect it via coaxial cable. Not a huge deal but part of the lower rating. Other than those 2 issues it works great!

Great system to get someone introduced to the video game world!
That classic 8-bit console that started it all. The Nintendo Entertainment System is a fantastic entry level system in the video game world. Many tough and entertaining games that are still one of the most popular and most played games of today. Super Mario Bros, Zelda, Metroid, Duck Hunt, CastleVania, Excitebike, just to name a few. A very easy system to use, you can either hook it up through your TV's coaxial input or more popular composite in your CRT or LCD TV. It's more recommended to play an older game console like this on a tube or CRT TV so that quality of the image is pleasant to the player, and so that you do not experience any sort of lag with the gameplay.
Great in it's day,....
I had one of these when they first came out in 1985. Back then they were considered state of the art. Now they're more of a novelty item, but my son is into collecting retro gaming consoles and he wanted one for Christmas. He loves all the old games and this will really make his day. So my rating might be somewhat askew, but only because after 26 years the ease of use of this product without changing the 72 pin connector, well it makes getting it to work properly somewhat challenging. Games should be cleaned too which helps in making these old units work. Remember blowing on the cartridges? Well q-tips and high grade Isopropyl rubbing alcohol works quite well. As for the value for the money, I'm rather shocked by some of the prices these things are going for, but good deals are out their and even heavily used ones are easily put back into working order with parts readily available here on eBay and how-to videos on Youtube. This product is decent if you or a loved one likes theold school games but doesn't compare to the new fangled, HD goodness of the xBox 360 or the PS3. Hope this review helps some!
The Original NES. A (sometimes testy) classic
Classic system, classic fun. Those games you had fun with as a kid? They're still fun... no nostalgia required. The system has that great feeling of simplicity. It can still be testy when it comes to playing dirty games and the connector usually needs to be cleaned. Luckily, the internet is a gold mine for learning the proper way to clean the games and system. It's very rewarding to take the NES apart and clean it to get it working again. The NES is built very well, and one good cleaning will keep it working for many years. No special tools, skills, or deep breaths are required... (if you didn't know, don't blow on the cartridges anymore.) Pick one up, to re-live old memories or to make new ones. You won't be disappointed.
