    Amazing VR and versatility

    I had a Sigma APO 70-300 which was amazing, every time I used it. After roughly 17 years in my bag and or closet ( I live in Florida) I noticed that it had considerable fungus/haze visible on the rear inside element. I am a true Nikon lover and bought the Sigma because at the time I purchased it, Nikons only offering in this range was rated optically inferior. Since then, Nikon updated its 70-300 three times, I think, but the price has increased substantially with each offering. The latest version is around $800. Since this focal length range is not one I use often, I started pricing new sigma APO's which are still an amazing bargain. Then I thought to look on Ebay for a used nikkor and found an excellent deal on this modern VR lens. Retailing for $500, I obtained a used, excellent copy ...

    Good range, good focusing excellent image quality.

    Image quality is very good. Focusing speed is very high and accurate. It is almost entirely quiet during focusing. I took some Bird In Flight images with it and it works very well.
