    Introspective assessment of life

    Johnny Cash, knowing his life was coming to an end, released a series of albums where he was able to contemplate his life and sing songs he would not have recorded otherwise. This may be the best album of the series. It is both sad and fascinating to hear him sing in a voice that falters but shows the knowledge he had of life and how he fit into it. This is not a high energy, rocking country album. This is an introspective album of a man assessing his life and trying to leave this world a little better with the time he had left. Much of the credit for these albums goes to Rick Rubin, for he is the rock that Johnny could rely on so that these songs could be left for us to enjoy. May everyone do so.

    Sunset Album From an Icon

    Good from the standpoint of putting a period at the end of Cash's singing album. You can tell he is not the young or even middle aged performer of old, but is still in there pulling. A couple of new pieces, several oldies, worth buying for Cash fans.

    Johnny Cash at the end of his career

    Johnny Cash saved his best work for the end of his career. You can feel the deep meaning in his songs. Not his best vocals, by a long shot, but much heartfelt lyrics. Each song shows a side of Johnny that had great meaning in his life. This CD is definitely worth the money.
