  • Mediocre Movie – Over the Top 3D Effects

The storyline of The Bubble involves a couple who find themselves in a town where all the residents walk around in a catatonic stupor. Each townsperson has one line that they repeat constantly, such as the bartender “What’ll it be gents?” The couple discover that the town is surrounded by a plastic bubble. And that’s all of the plot. The only recognizable star is Olan Soule as the watch repairman, he’s one of those actors who had hundreds of bit parts in movies and on television. The film was originally shot in Space-Vision 3D, the same system used for Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein. The system lends itself to “Pop-Outs” where objects jump out into the audience. While it is really a good 3D system, the use of pop-outs is gratuitous – many for no apparent reason, such as the man brushing the billboard, or the flying tray in the bar (yep – the wires are visible). This Blu-Ray was produced by Kino, which means it’s from the best possible original film footage – not a rip from a VHS or 16mm. As a movie, it’s a flop, the only reason for watching the movie is the 3D, but 3D can’t save this bomb.

  • Retro 3D cinema fans will enjoy it.

Retro 3D cinema fans will have a lot of fun with this movie! Plot is kind of silly but it still is surprisingly entertaining. I'm glad it was restored to it's full 3D glory!

  • The Bubble a 3-D Clasic

The plot and dialog run like an extended twilight zone episode. The set work is like everything you might find around any major studio back lot all thrown around but fits the plot line perfectly. What brings it all together is the 3-D photography which too many cinematographers get wrong. With the lenses too close together there is little depth; too far apart and you will get a headache. For such an early 3-D the photography is perfect, and comparable to works like Terminator 3-D, Polar Express and Prometheus.

  • GOOD FOR IT'S TIME

This is a good for it's time movie that has good 3D and some pop outs.
