This unit works well. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some more upscale units have (i.e. especially a remote control), but it does have what you need to play your CD collection well. I purchased this unit to replace a similar Sony unit that I've had for many years. It was starting to skip badly and I didn't want to damage any of my CD's. So I purchased this one and have not been disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that even though it didn't come with a remote, the universal remote for my entertainment system DID work quite nicely. Way to go Sony!
