    Slow reading at first but picks up.

    Bought this book early October an promptly forgot it. Found it in my 'purchased items' list and decided to give it a try. Could no find it for almost 2 weeks. Finally had success but the reason I couldn't find it was bizarre. The copy I received had a different cover image. Since it was a used book, laying it on a lower shelf with many other used books was a perfect hiding place. It takes a long time to get the story going but Louis is an artist, I appreciate his work. Especially the Westerns. This book is educational. Glad I kept looking for it, I was close to ordering a 2nd copy when I finally found it.

    Middle Ages from a unique perspective!

    Wow! I never knew L'Amour had written on this time period. It was extremely interesting to read about this from his study & perspective. One thing I would really like to have would be access to his notes of how he compiled all the details he included in his story. -- My understanding is that he had planned to write 3 books on this general time in history, however he died before he got this completed. There are a lot of interesting details, quotes, thoughts, etc. which could make this book a good book club read for discussion and dialogue in a group.

    The Walking Drum

    A wonderful book full of adventure, history, and yes even a bit of romance. LAmour give the reader a wonderful glimpse into 12th century Europe, on of his best.
